Well, perhaps if we could see some commentary about how those cars compare to each other? :D

I have to say, I like that Volvo, and the 3 Series doesn't look bad at all next to the C Class. Lexus however... Maybe it's just that I'm European, so I prefer European styling.

Purely based on these pictures ,the c class makes the 3 series look really good, infact I'd go as far as saying the 3 series looks like the newer car here, looking forward to the inevitable comparison tests,so far positive reviews for the C.

I think both look good in their own ways and it up to personal taste. If someone claims one makes the other ugly or old it is fan boy smack talk.

I don't feel like it's fanboy smack talk to say a car released in 2014 makes a car released in 2011 look old.

I believe in this like a religion: Say 25-39 years ago, over a Beer and a Schnapps it was agreed. Keep the German Giant Auto Industry equally wealthy and healthy.

Since the days of the 190E and competitors from BMW and then came along Audi...maybe even earlier, nothings changed. Same idea just refreshed +/- equally with every new generation from each manufacturer.

Win - Win - Situation for all 3-OEM's. That what was, is and that what is, was. Just a refreshed take on an old recipe with newest tech available and so the boards of the Big-3 smiles and they were happy and saw that it's fine, just fine!:):):);););)

I'm looking forward to see some UK reviews of the C-class against it's rivals because it is the most recent addition to the segment and in theory should be the one to beat that is if looks are anything to go by.

IMO Mercedes has listened to it's customers and produced a car worthy of the 3 pointed star.

Latest issue of Autocar is out with BMW 320d vs C220 CDI comparison!! Guess which car is winner?

What does the AutoBild article actually say, my chrome translator is shit.

Short summary.Autobild says a deeper and more detailed test will come later.

- Both A4 and 3-series are more spacious in the backseat
- No BMW, 4-cylinder engine is no replacement for a 6-cylinder engine
- This C-class is equipped with Airmatic suspension and offer splendid driving comfort

Conclusion:
The new C-class does everything we expect from Mercedes, the car is more comfortable than ever and breath quality. But the competition from Munchen is too strong.

The BMW 320D wins, due to mainly the more responsive engine and gearbox as well as handling/fun. The Mercedes beats the BMW in ride comfort, noise levels, tech features and interior quality. It was a very close result.

BMW: 5 stars
Mercedes: 4 1/2 stars

The main thing Autocar always consider of course that is always number 1 in any of their tests is how a car corners/handles. I personally think that probably to the 75% of most people who drive cars, most people don't push their cars hard on any corner to reveal whether it will over or understeer. The Mercedes will probably satisfy these 75% of people the most as it probably has a better ride/handling balance than the BMW and also these people will probably be most impressed with the styling and WOW factor that the interior quality and feel gives them.

It is a close call for me, I want to drive the C220 CDI when I have to chance to compare of course as I already drove the F30 320d A/T.

^^Exactly my thoughts.

It’s about damn time that makers of luxury automobiles stop trying to emulate the BMW 3 Series. Yes, for a couple decades it was the world’s best-driving compact sport-luxury sedan. But thanks to so many other automakers’ lack of originality and a disregard for their own company’s identities, we now have a market flooded with wannabe sports sedans that miss the mark. Hell, even BMW can’t do what it used to. So it’s about time that everyone stopped trying to. Mercedes just has, and the result is spectacular—perhaps that’ll be a lesson to everyone else.
