E-Class (W212/C207/A207) New E-Class Coupe sits on older, cheaper C-Class platform

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W212), estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: 2009–2016. Predecessor: W211 E-Class. Successor: W213 E-Class.
Some folks need to relax. :t-cheers:

There is NOTHING SHAMEFUL about this. Using the C-Class platform has many advantages including the lower purchasing price of the car for example. Furthermore we know that the C-Class platform is great and can also be easily modified to suit the needs of the heavier coupe.

I don't see what the big deal is. :t-hands:

Mercedes should simply have released this information at the beginning. Then again, if people out there reacted like some folks in here did... :D

It's not shameful, but annoying, all these "The E-Coupe is only a C-Class" statements from journalists...

Well that was bound to happen, but MB should've insisted a bit more about the relationship to the E-Class.

^^ Gonna be called C-Coupe, imo.

As far as the CLC is concerned... it was destined to have a very short life expectancy.

Will be replaced either by this "CLK" (which is sometimes rumoured to be a 4-door sedan), or by an A-Class based Coupe (knowing the next A-Class will be lower due to the lack of sandwich concept, thus will be an A3-like car).

Or by both.

I'm not sure what the issue is.... I don't see people complaining that all Lexus are based on Toyotas..... So it has some C-Class in it... As long as it doesn't have some Sebring in it, I think we're fine.

Exactly! The car doesn't suffer from quality issues so it should be a problem. Seems like they always want to come after Benz. Good news I highly doubt this will hurt their sales. The car might actually benefit from it.
