Thanks Audiholic. Puts things into prespective, but at the same time I don't think this excuses the lack of competitve performance on behalf of the S line cars. Their like mastiffs running up against cheetahs(AMG, M), I think the performance numbers could be a lot better and more competitve w/ the competition. They shouldn't wait until the end of the life span for a model line to release a competitor to the already sucessful and growing competition from the establishment. If Audi wants to build a stronger credibility w/ consumers, then they're going to have to step their performance game up, plain and simple. Otherwise the only way people will ever know if Audi does a performnace model when that last and final model year comes round, and garaunteed, outside of the enthusiast crowd that's not a whole lot of people.

I agree with you 100%. What I didnt agree on was that they "don't need the S6". They need the S6. But hell yeah the RS6 should come earlier!

Then answer this, why should there be an S6??? If the RS6 were to come "sooner" then there would be no need for an S6, which would be completely ok w/ me. Amazing how this discussion on S vs. RS is on going.

Not everyone can afford the RS model, and not everyone would want a RS model. The S is just a badge, even if they got rid of it they would still sell a 340bhp S4 as they do sell.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

i just read an interview in a swedish car mag with the new lambo chief..
they asked him what audi has done for lambo..he said quality safety and that they could never make CF brakes without audis help..
then they asked what lambo does for audi..and he said that lambo is helping audi with the new RS6 engine:D..

PS
But maybe you all knew this allready.. but i thought i should mention it..

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

Lets hope so, I'm sure the RS4 was the beginning of Audi getting out of turboed engines!

Seems like everyone is copying BMW lately, going N/A!

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

lol dont act like BMW invented the NA engine..

no they didnt but you have to admit that M have been using NA for a very long time and never switched from turbo to NA or vice versa ever like RS and AMG. M have been sticking with what M engine once started with. Sticking with their roots.

It's not all about inventing, it's about making the best!;)

Remember MB created the car, BMW just took it a bit further!:D j/k

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

i guess it beggins from start again..but opposite roles..BMW fans will start to critisize those who have gone NA..:D.. crazy dudes..

M havent gone Fi yet, so far they staying to the roots and if AMG and RS continue using NA engine, BMW will stay NA as well.

Well, the reason BMW wait is because they wanted to make the engine as good as N/A, and that is what they have done!:)

thats not what we are doing, at least not me. You taking it wrong.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

I personally wish BMW went to turbo charged engines....I think N/A at somepoint is kind of silly when in reality we can get more power and better gas mileage out of a turbo charged engine.

Which company won the most engine of the year awards? :D
Also, don't be suprised if the inline 6 TT takes home some awards next year.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

irrelevant..

nobody questioned BMW´s ability to make gr8 engines..
the question is why do bmw fans act like RS and AMG are following them with their NA engines?? when we all perfectly well know that the NA engine has been around for over a century..

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
