A6/S6/RS6 New Audi RS6 (Spy pics & info)

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

I saw the a great episode from best motoring. the new M5 driven by the japanese driftking around a track together with a 997,Gallardo,Skyline and a M3 CSL. the driver in the M5 drifted in the curves to block the others to pass him. :D Was a lot of fun to watch.
I have uploaded it on Google and I will let you know when its available. Best episode ever :usa7uh:

Ok, maybe burn-outs are a bit of a problem but believe me, with the 40:60 rear biased quattro and 500+ hp, you'll be doing some pretty nifty 4 wheel drifts - even in the dry...

I promise, 4wd in the right hands can be astonishingly good fun.

That is exactly what I think too! You seem to often take my words and explain them even better, hehe.

You know, I'm still a little frightened after the S8 and S6, getting those detuned engines, but then again the RS-line is something different. Just look at the RS4, or the old RS6+! Those are insane. I pray to God that Audi won't drop out of the horsepower-war as they said some time ago....

Yes, especially in slippery conditions (where RWD is hell if you're actually trying to go somewhere).

As far as the RS6 is concerned, 530 hp instead of 550 would not be a disappointment for me. It'll be fast enough either way. :D Quattro means it'll be usable year round up here too.
I just hope they get the looks right, meaning that it should be more aggressive than the S6 without going overboard with bulges and spoilers... But of course, I have faith in Audi. :eusa_pray

But in reality that kind of behaviour (even in M5) is nigh impossible on public roads and hardly any M5's ever make it onto a track on a regular basis. Therein lies the advantage of quattro - superb grip and precision cornering as quick as possible without the loss of traction or control in any conditions.

I promise, 4wd in the right hands can be astonishingly good fun.

lol ... ok i appreciate ur opinion .. I've seen M5 going on roads .. u can hardly launch the car without hearing the tires screaming ... I know Quattro won't have such things ... and u can push it as hard as u can with no drama at all .. but am afraid it would be just one boring fast car .. so .. let us wait and judge when it is on roads and driven by the press ..

Hmm...the first gen RS6 was far away from boring, so why would this be?

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

Yes, of course MJaaFY, whether AWD or RWD each has advantages over the other - it's up to us as drivers to decide what blows our hair back or hope to hell that the world's motoring press can pass some candid, objective opinion on the matter...

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

the biggest step from audi is that they are leaving automatic trannies. A huge advantage. Manuell or DSG/SMG is the way to go and more fun than just a Automatic.

u r right man, lets wait and see how the 40-60 torque split will enhance it further .. really I need to drive the new RS4 to have a better judgement ..

No it isnt. My dad and I did one in our black E60 M5 without it even being in M mode.. :eusa_danc

Just_me: but remember one thing, the RS6 will not have the "Fun Factor" since it has Quattro, that itself can turn me off from purchasing this car

seriously guys, having a car that has 500+ Hp, powerful torque, DSG ... etc .. but Quattro ? I know it means great traction .. but imagine the fun u'll be missing with a RWD car .. power slides, burnounts .... etc ..

lol I know some of u might think am crazy but believe me guys ... in tracks u would love to do such crazy things .. it just make u feel better

Regards

Well I guess the people in warm climates do not get to experience the fun you have with Quattro.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

Both RWD and AWD have their advantages. I personally would take AWD because RWD in arctic conditions can be a pain in the ass when you actually trying to get somewhere and not just playing around. I haven't driven it personally but I fell that the MB's 4-Matic is the best. 65-35 power distribution should give the feel of RWD and the speed/traction of AWD. :)

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

^^ So I suppose it depends on where you live and what the whether is like.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

I've lived in Russia and we didn't have one AWD car :D . What you need is a good set of winter tires and you should be set... AWD is defintely a plus, but honestly, it's not always necessary. I don't know if you guys have ever seen the Top Gear episode when they tested the S4 vs M3. The two cars were totally diffferent... the Audi just gripped and never let go (even saw some understeer). The M3 was just powersliding it's way through every corner. I'm sure it depends on what you want, but I'm not picky so I'll have either one.

As for the RS6... I expect them to just take a Lambo engine and not do too many mods on it. This is going to be a pure car, unlike the detuned engines on the S versions of late. I think that this car in terms of acceleration is going to be awfully close to the new AMG cars of the future, leaving BMW behind. Last but now least... expect a hefty price tag. These new Audis have been expensive lately! :eusa_thin

RS6 wont get 550hp. Perhaps Gallardo will get it but not Rs6. Audi seem to do it like M division, make the cars sportier and more rewarding to drive. I remember the rumours that M5/M6 would get 550hp but it did not happen.

Old S6 had 340hp and Rs6 450hp thats one reason why the new Rs6 will get 520-530hp, thats about 110hp more than S6, just like it was between the old S6 and RS6. Add DSG and we have a killer car. No need for 550...

I knnow we've had this arguement before.....i know ure pribably right...but ya never knoq :eusa_danc

don't start arguement.....Quattro is definetly the bested....thats no bias...its a fact...

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

AWD is good but doesn't make the car better than one without it. Personally I prefer cars without AWD, it adds uneccessary weight. Still the big reason why I don't like AWD is becasue it ruins the driving pleasure. Some AWD systems simply grips too much, limiting your ability to control the car yourself. You can hardly drift och slide through a corner with an AWD car. Off course electronis aid is good but the challenge with driving a car around a track is controling the car through the bends but it becomes a bit boring when the car help you too much.

I only find it neccessary to buy a AWD car if you live in a cold climate. Other than it it's a bit pointless to buy a AWD car if you live in a warm place like LA.

Trust me in the area we live in......the AWD is mandatory....it gets so snowy and it is very hilly....you NEED AWD

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

What I like about AWD, especially Quattro, is that when you floor it to the full at a start, the car sucks itself to the ground and you fly away. Not as with a RWD or FWD that just spin and spin.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
