A6/S6/RS6 New Audi RS6 (Spy pics & info)

Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk.

Alright.

Now that we have the new S6 here, I thought I open a new thread about the forthcoming AudI RS6. So we can talk about it right here and share our thoughts and maybe spypics.

So I'll share my first thougt:

Many say that it will have a 5.2L V10 BiTurbo producing about 530hp.

Well, I have to disagree. Why would Audi go back to the Turbos now that the S4, RS4, S8 and now S6 have high-reeving engines. Look what Audi did to that RS4 V8! I actually think that the new RS6 will have a high-reeving V10 5.2L without any turbos, producing over 500hp!

What are your thoughts?

I agree with this but im also curious as to the possiblilty of a V12 that I believe I remeber hearing that they were developing for the R8, now that would be nice. But the V10 is most likely and im sure if put it too its full potential as they did with the RS 4 V8 I have no doubt this will conquer the competition.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

5.5L V10 540hp 570Nm 7-speed DSG, mark my words. :D
BTW, how well did the old RS6 sell, did Audi even make a profit?

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

It will use the same engine as the Gallardo. Thats a N/A V10 5.2 lt producing 520 hp. That is what the RS6 will use. Any word on suspension and chassis upgrades and things of that nature?

^^did audi make a profit?

I kind of doubt it. The RS line is highly engineered but way too low production. I say drop the S line and make RS higher production to give BMW a little more competition on their too popular M segment.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

when will it come.. do we have any info on that?

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

520-530hp, N/A and DSG.
Sorry to say this but I might choose the new RS6 over M5 if this will be the case. Add my figures and the sportiness and we have a new winner. I love the M5 but the new RS6 might steal my heart. :usa7uh:

Does this mean your leaving us BMW fanboys?? Well it will definitely be faster in a strait line but lets take a rain check on the idea of the RS6 being better at cornering. (I KNOW IT HAS QUATTRO)

Gallardo's engine is a 5.0 lt V10 with 520 hp in special edition. S6 and S8 have a more advanced version of the same engine with increased volume and FSI so it's a 5.2 lt V10 FSI. Some people say that RS6 will use a high revving version of that engine with 520-530 hp , some claim that a new 5.5 lt FSI is on the way with 550 hp for facelifted Gallardo and that engine will be used.

I will always love BMW. I will still like the M5 and I will still considering it to be one of the best cars in the world but I've always been weak for Audi. I rank it second (together with Porsche) after BMW :eusa_danc

RS6 wont get 550hp. Perhaps Gallardo will get it but not Rs6. Audi seem to do it like M division, make the cars sportier and more rewarding to drive. I remember the rumours that M5/M6 would get 550hp but it did not happen.

Old S6 had 340hp and Rs6 450hp thats one reason why the new Rs6 will get 520-530hp, thats about 110hp more than S6, just like it was between the old S6 and RS6. Add DSG and we have a killer car. No need for 550...

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

Just_me: but remember one thing, the RS6 will not have the "Fun Factor" since it has Quattro, that itself can turn me off from purchasing this car

seriously guys, having a car that has 500+ Hp, powerful torque, DSG ... etc .. but Quattro ? I know it means great traction .. but imagine the fun u'll be missing with a RWD car .. power slides, burnounts .... etc ..

lol I know some of u might think am crazy but believe me guys ... in tracks u would love to do such crazy things .. it just make u feel better

Regards

I know it has Quattro but 4wd can be fun as well although the feeling of driving a Rwd is more rewarding. rwd and quattro are the most fun, fwd cars are just a pain :D

If RS6 get DSG and high-reeving concept it can be a lot fun.

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

Just_me: could u please explain how u could have such fun in an AWD car ? I drove the A6 4.2 with quattro .. it was smooth on roads .. corners well .. but no fun at all ... while previously I drove the new 325i ... it was hell of an experience .. really wonderful car to drive ... lol I was havin fun even in straight lines .. it revs like an M5 youngest sister .. not to mention hard launchs with little smoke and power slides at some corners .. it was really fun .. how could u have such things in AWD ?

I havent driven the next generation Rs6 or the new Rs4 for that matter but with AWD you get a lot of grip but like I said RWd is more fun and more rewarding to drive than AWD. But if the new RS6 get DSG and highreeving engine then I cant see how it would be a boring car :t-hands:

Re: Forthcoming Audi RS6 talk

humm ... so ur just speculating .. well to me I'd rather having an M5 over the RS6 .. just for the RWD itself ... we don't have rough winters over here .. no snow whatsoever .. so RWD is suitable for all seasons .. and AWD is unnecessary .. IMO

MjJaaFY, you are one crazy Arab! ;) :D

Ok, maybe burn-outs are a bit of a problem but believe me, with the 40:60 rear biased quattro and 500+ hp, you'll be doing some pretty nifty 4 wheel drifts - even in the dry...

But in reality that kind of behaviour (even in M5) is nigh impossible on public roads and hardly any M5's ever make it onto a track on a regular basis. Therein lies the advantage of quattro - superb grip and precision cornering as quick as possible without the loss of traction or control in any conditions.

I promise, 4wd in the right hands can be astonishingly good fun.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
