Although we did our best to get around to all of the events up in Monterey last week, the fates sometimes conspired against us. Bear with us then as we play a bit of catch-up this week and share some pics of the unveilings and debuts you may have missed. Here we show off a few shots of the more track-like DBS from Aston Martin. Finished in a bluish silver or silvery light blue depending on your vantage point (Ha ha, vantage), we're still a bit conflicted about this newest top rung Aston. While the recently retired Vanquish was all brutal muscle with some semblance of elegance still there, this DBS looks a bit tuner-like, and although it looks like it might be comfortable at a track-day event, it loses some of the fluidity of design that has been the hallmark of recent Aston Martin design. We'll reserve judgment until after one spends some time in the AB garage (fingers crossed!). There are plenty of media pics available by clicking here and some additional pricing details that slipped directly from the horse's mouth available by clicking here.

My god can you imagine this car in dark Blue or Black. Don't even talk about White or British Racing Green. Stunning.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, or at least praised. But honestly, besides all the eye-candy, the best thing about this car is the fact it's F__king stick-shift so we don't have to deal with AM's crappy semi-auto. Thank goodness!

I believe the DBS looks best in British racing green.

Me too. Funny enough, you'd think for a British car most of 'em DB9s would come with BRG... But it doesn't seem like it. Come think I haven't seen a BRG DB9 before!

The DBS is the finely honed version of the DB9. Love it!

Aston Martin DBS challenges the DBR9 at the Nϋrburgring.
Aston Martin’s recently unveiled DBS supercar has come face-to-face with the Le Mans-winning DBR9 racer at an exclusive test day at the Nϋrburgring this week. The DBS was in Germany for a final sign-off drive at the circuit at the same time as the DBR9, which was undergoing a test session at the Grand Prix section of the famous circuit.
Next in line for the DBS is the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, where the car will be official unveiled by the brand’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez. Incidentally, Bez, who’s an avid racing fan, was the person behind the wheel during the final sign-off drive.
The limited edition DBS was built using a series of race-derived materials and components, with designers taking most of their inspiration from the DBR9 race car. Powered by the venerable 6.0L V12, the DBS develops peak output of 510hp (380kW) and 570Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. Though no official figures have been released for the DBR9, the car’s racing mill is estimated at churning out over 600hp (448kW) and 700Nm (517lb-ft) of torque.

Hmm, but the DB9 came with a 6 speed full auto in the first place. Only the Vanquish got the crappy clutchless manual.

^^
Nice presentation. If only Ford did the same with the Jaguar XF, it's presentation sucked.

Aston Martin DBS sold out for 5 years

The Aston Martin DBS has sold out for the next five years, a new report finds. Aston Martin has reportedly received 1,500 orders for the new DBS. According to Aston Martin, the company plans to produce 300 examples of the DBS a year, which equates to a five year waiting list.

In an interview with AutoCar, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez said that the automaker is exploring ways to increase production in order to keep customers happy and from buying a car from a competing marque.

The backup in production could also delay future products. Production of the upcoming four-door Rapide – which is scheduled to bow in 2009 or 2010 — might have to outsourced in order to keep up with its production schedule. It's also possible that the Vanquish replacement will be delayed due to the high volume of DBS orders.

I'm not surprised, for it is the best looking production car in the world.
