My GTI... Finally

Just installed the BSH 27mm solid RSB to my car and it corners like nothing! Amazing mod.

Which brings me to wonder whether my recently ordered Bilstein PSS10s will be of any use... :t-banghea

Meanwhile enjoy some new photos!

Nope, my friend did the shots. They are good aren't they!

Julius is almost a ten hour flight away I think it's almost impossible for us to meet up. :D

I saw the whole set on Flickr, pics came out really good James. Are you planning on getting the Detroit wheels??

Detroit is tha shit

Take care of yours James and I know you will.

But as mentioned before ... It needs to be lowered just a few inches more.

Your wish is my command. :D Car is finally lowered with the Bilstein PSS10s and this marks the end of the modding journey (major ones at least) for the GTI... I am all ready to enjoy the car for years to come with its top-quality mods. It's finally the car that I've always wanted it to be.

AWSOME!
:D Now I feel happy for both you and the GTI!
Congrats with a complete and amazing MKV!

And of course photos rocks too!

Car just had its brake fluid changed today... Pedal had a few mm of dead travel after the track day so I rectified it. Feels as good as new now!

Also discovered a mysterious sound in the front driveshaft - turns out a screw is loose (how dangerous is that!) - all's fine now.

Just tuned my suspension to F6R5 today (PSS10s can be scaled from 1-10, 10 being the stiffest) and already feeling the benefits of a more controlled body and sharper handling. :usa7uh:

500km more to my next engine oil change...

Just did my oil change not too long ago - almost intended to cough out some more cash for Motul 300V 5w-40 but decided to stick to my favourite - Mobil 1 - since I got a good deal for it. There's this shop where I can buy the oil filter very cheaply too, so in the end my oil change costs less than a full tank of petrol. :D

Toying with the idea of getting new rims. What do you guys think of this? The BBS CH.

I think they look way meaner than my Khartoums now, though they'll really make my car look modified for sure. Reason I'm thinking of new rims is because my Michelin PS2s are due for a change. After their track day they are simply pretty darn worn out. I've got less than 5,000km on them I think. If I drive slow, maybe I can do 10,000km-15,000km more. But don't think I wanna risk it. :D

Any ideas what tyres can replace my PS2s? Don't want something so expensive and yet can reach 80-90% of the capabilities of the PS2s. I've been looking at Goodyear Eagle F1 Ayms (though they are known to have manufacturing faults locally) and I've since shifted my focus to Hankook S1 Evo. Any comments?

Car feels great now and is blasting towards its 75,000km servicing... :t-cheers:

Those rims look absolutely fantastic. Would definitely consider this style of rims if you want to get new ones! Especially the grey finish fits perfect to your black car.

Om my sweet lord James.... !
Congrats with the new shoes they look perfect!
:D

I have been looking at those stunning wheels my self , until I saw the pricetag ^^
I envy you still GTI's bring happiness eitherway.

Actually, my eyes are still on the pricetag, I haven't bought them yet. :D

Last night, four GTIs went for a drive. For a tyre that has visited Sepang once and went through 26,000km the Michelin PS2s are still holding up (in the dry). Incredible tyres... Though the PSS10 + BSH RSB certainly cries out for better rubber. The car can do A LOT more with better tyres. A friend with a similar setup but on Yokohama Advan AD08s feels simply spectacular. A truly fast car...

Oh, and a fact I learnt last night. mTm is a conservative tune (at least for Stage 2 and for the MkV GTI) and it certainly loses out to many other tunes in the power/torque department. Probably with engine longevity in mind... Wouldn't say I was disappointed, but... :t-hands:

Love those new rims, they're beautiful. Really nice looking GTi, glad you're enjoying owning it!!

Okay in two days' time I'm gonna get new tyres, the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s. :D My PS2s are doing well in the dry but I can't place much confidence on them in the wet because the sidewalls are really shaved. Will share my views on the new tyres soon...

On another note, my boost seems to be a bit subdued so I'm getting my Forge DV checked. Haven't brought it to service yet although I heard you need to do it at least every 10,000km for the Forge DV.

Hope you guys aren't too bored with my updates! :t-cheers:
