My brand new Leon Cupra K1 (in candy white)

Anytime bud:usa7uh:

PM to let me know when your picking her up. We can hook up for a GermanCarForum UK meet LOL.:t-drive:

well its looking like its gonna be on the 17th of march. Having a major headache with insurance though.

Insurance runs out on the current car on the 16th, so then I can insure the new car for the 17th. Trouble is I then need insurance for a day to get the ibiza to the garage in the first place.

Im hoping that maybe I can get a insurance company to insure me with my extra ncb early, as in before my insurance actually runs out on the ibiza!

Congrats Poverty, seriously hot wheels. I hope you're going to have the aftermarket tuning done only after you've given the car a chance to run in. Modern engines are engineered to much tighter tolerances than before and so take a fair amount of mileage to start delivering their best.

If you are going to remap with DMS (a very reputable tuner) my suggestion is that you follow a specific run-in process as suggested by both manufacturer and thereafter, the tuner.

Ordinarily, I pay little heed to running in instructions, given that:
a) the manufacturer has bench tested the engine at high rpm for sustained periods
b) some dealer schmuck has already caned the living crap out of the car

But, in the light of the intended purpose of the car it can't hurt to give her a good, measured run in with careful driving through the whole of the rev-range.*

* Sounds odd, but it doesn't hurt to get the engine up to high rpm for very short periods of time in a gear higher than first and second and preferrably not with full throttle. I believe that running in an engine accross the entire rev-range in the best approach. It's about a good mix of rpm with requisite mechanical sympathy i.e. full bore acceleration in first gear from the off isn't quite the idea ;)

All the best and many happy safe miles.

Will definetly be driving it easily until it has some decent mileage under the bonnet! Thing Im not so sure about though is how many miles I shall give it to run in!

Also taking it easy will allow me to learn the new car and get used to the extra power seeing as its twice as quick to 62mph as my old one.

Yeah I hate insurance companies siko. Im getting insurance quotes ranging from 2300 pounds to 8000 pounds. Its a joke :t-crazy2:

Congrats :) It's looking great in white with those black rims :)
240PS is always nice but the real fun starts at 300PS(RWD for me) :D

Quick update on the car, had it remapped to 312hp and 330.5lbft of torque. More to come still. Car has no torque steer.

Have had plays with loads of different metal, have seen off the brand new focus RS, vauxhall astras, scooby sti (rolling starts) mazda rx8, rx7, type r's. mazda mps 3 and some others.

Played with a evo 7 on a standing start which annilates me to begin with but once rolling its pretty even. Once getting to higher numbers the cupra is slightly quicker.

Also played with the e46 m3, that was also quicker but not much.

Once I get stage 2 fitted to my car I should be able to see off a E46 M3 and evo on rolling starts.

Sounds like a very well sorted out car and tuning, esp the "no torque steer" part, that is unheard of with FWD cars packing more than 200 hp!

Yeah I know, no one believes me when I tell them that so I made a video of it. Will post it up here at some point.

Fitted my hpfp and stock it on a dyno.

Made 327hp and 484nm of torque. Running low settings still as I have still got the standard restrictive exhuast system fitted. Hope to get that sorted shortly, as after that I should run about 340hp!

Its now quicker than a evo fq340 on a rolling start.

Still no torque steer? How is the engine lag?

Still no torque steer? How is the engine lag?

Havent been able to see how it now copes with the extra power as of yet as its raining in england, and the traction control light flickers in 3rd.

Engine Lag is no worse than standard.

200lbft/271nm of torque now available from as early as 2250rpm.

When standard the car made 150lbft/203nm of torque at 2250rpm and topped out at just over 240lbft at 4666rpm

Can report that torque steer is still a non issue.

Played with a E92 M3 the other night down the strip, also took the bmw driver out in mine afterwards and then went out in his.

Basically from rolling the m3 is only slightly quicker much to the surprise of myself and the m3 driver, hence him wanting to have a ride in mine.

When I took him out in mine he commented how it didnt feel that quick, but to be fair to the cupra it had just done 5 back to back runs an its still running the standard cooling system.

Then after he took me out in his M3 as he was racing my friends cupra k1 and I must say I see what he means about the sense of speed, the m3 feels much quicker than the cupra, although there wasnt anything really in it between the m3 and my friends 350hp cupra k1.

Must be the way it delivers the power and how the seating position in the m3 is much lower than the cupra.

Either way its given me itchy feet and Im starting to look at other cars.

The cupra k1 might have to share the drive with a used e92 m3 sometime next year, that or maybe a 300hp Lotus exige

I'm not a big SEAT fan but the car looks great in the white paint/black rim combo. How different is it from a Golf GTI?

Bigger brakes, bigger turbo, bigger injectors, lighter suspension components and a cheaper price.
