My BMW M3 V8 E92 review

So I finally drove the new M3 V8. As many of you know I was very upset on the first reviews from Marbella, Spain but the new M3 V8 surprised me. Suspension is good as a 335i thanks to EDC. The seats are very comfortable.
I know Gustav had another three passengers when he drove from Stockholm to Göteborg, a three hour drive and they didn't had any complaints on the comfort, even in the backseat you sit good. There is also more space than M3 E46.

Old M3 E46 has a rockhard suspension and isn't as comfortable as the new M3. The new M3 has tons of grip, you can push the car as much as you want to but the car is still glued to the street..of course drifting is still possible.
Reeving to 8400 rpm is wonderful, Its a V8 but there are something about the sound that remind me about M3 E46. Oh BTW, 180km/h in third gear is possible  I dont know what some carjournalists has against the steering feel, the steering is good no doubt, heck even former Formula 1 driver Alain Prost was praising the steering and he should know his stuff.

I pick the new M3 V8 over M3 E46. The new M3 is better to live with everyday, better seats, better suspension but still the car accelerate faster and handle better than a M3 E46. It's very noticable that M3 E46 is an old car when you compare it to the new.

The M3 V8 is a very well-balanced car and you even if you push the car you feel that the traction is very good. Gustav wanted me to drift in a roundabout becuase he said the car is easy to control and even though he was almost forcing me to do it, I chickening out :) . First it wasnt my car and if something went wrong I would probably not afford to repair the car :D so instead we did like 4 laps around the roundabout doing like 90km/h while he was on me to drift but I refused, top on that you got a little bit dizzy :D My lesson after that is that the new M3 has tons of grip because 90km/h in a small roundabout is fast.

For Average Joe, the new M3 is a better car to live with than the old M3. There is plenty of sport and tons of grip for 98% of all the drivers in the world to ever explore.

I see no reason to pick the old over the new, well, I have one. If you don't have the cash to buy the new then choose M3 E46.

I have yet to try the C63 AMG but the M3 reevs to 8400 rpm, has a manual gearbox, still plenty of grip and speed and that is enough to rank the M3 above C63. C63 might be faster but the new M3 isnt a slow car and has enough speed for the streets. The C63 must be something really special to win me over :)

The new M3 still got it: -the look, -the speed, -the handling -roadfeel and most important, the new M3 is still a fun car to drive.

I have no pictures but the car was white with 19" wheels, its the same M3 you see in the airfield event thread (see my singature).

Thanks to Gustav for the testdrive and for a great day.

EDIT: Here is a pic of the beast.

Great review. I must say, I'm falling more and more in love with the looks of the M3 than before. It just looks so drool worthy from every angle.

i understand you like the car then:)

However 100%??? no faults whatsoever????? i dont think so.

Andreas, he means the overall rating you gave for the car in this review. :)

I can only base it on my time with the car. Nothing went wrong with the car during my drive so overall its 100% car.

EDIT: I didnt give the car an overall rating, it says N/A.

5 star in each section gives 100%, however you want to colour it.

And regarding my future C63 it is well documented its going to be a little harsh ridewise on UK roads so i agree.

My point is IMO no car can be truly 100%. Example the interior of the ner M3 doesnt feel 55kGBP therfore cant be given 5star etc.

I'm sorry but thats not for you to decide. The quality in materials are there and the layout design is a personal opinion. I have no problem with the interior in 3-series and I prefer it over C-class.
Like I said earlier, I agree no car is 100% and I havent said the M3 is 100% thats why I didnt give it an overall rating.

Styling - styling is subjective but I love how the M3 looks like, therefore 5 stars
Performance - 420hp and power whenever you need it, rate it only a 4 would be stupid
Interior - the quality felt good and I like the clean and modern layout so its a five.
Quality - I had no problem during my testdrive and I can only speak for the time I spend driving the car. I cant guess the future realibility for this car therefore a five.
Recommendation - Why wouldnt I recommend this car? If you like performance cars then this is another awesome machine.

Note: I dont speak for other opinions, I can only rate it how I felt for the car. Also I cant tell others what to think becuase everyone is free to have an opinion.

Have you seen the tachy interior in the C63 AMG... Makes the beemer look more then a 55k interior to me....

Yes i have ive driven the E92 M3 for a full weekend, So i suppose i know it quite well. And IT DOES NOT feel 55kGBP. It feels exactly the same as MY07 335d. IMO it should feel special.

I am a friend of a BMW car magazine writer and having now sat in the C63 aswell it feels more upperclass and more expensive, the seats are amazing.

I know you are a BMW owner, so am i, but no need to get defensive and take things personal.

And no need to turn this thread into MB vs. BMW fight! So i please you all to stop it here and if you need to continue, there's Internal Combustion for that.

Thank you.

The black interior of the BMW M3 is a little boring... most black interiors are... The dark carmel beige colour interior which i sat in at my local dealer is simply awesome... Thats defintely a 55k + interior to me...

NB. The M5 interior is simply amazing.. sat in it aswell.. the facelift has turned an average interior into simply one of the best... I love the interior of my 530i which is an facelifted model its amazing.. But the M5 just takes it to the next level...

My point is im hoping this occurs with the 3 series facelift... make the 3 series interior simply amazing because it has potential just needs work on the details

yeah dont make it MB vs BMW debate. Its just a personal review by me :)

Lets just agree to disagree :t-cheers:

It was a good review, i was just stating its not a 100% car.........IMO:)

So you like the new M3 Just me! Good thing..

Thanks for the review. It's great and very positive :D

Depends how you see it, the BMW interiors are all similar now, bar the 1series.. imo they don't look good, or sometimes even cheap in photos (especially in black trim and black leather) but they feel and look great in real life. Of course the C63 is different, you can tell by those overstated bodykits which makes it look nearly a track car, and correspondingly the interior is also as overstated as the exterior, which is opposite to the M3.
Damn i still haven't seen the new M3.. :s
