My 2010 Detroit Autoshow Experience!

As you could imagine the show is toned down a lot now. No Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Porsche, Nissan, Infiniti or Aston-Martin. Youch, that is big chuck of lust objects..........missing!

I can truly say my favorite car of the show was either the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG or the Bentley Mulsanne. Both cars were everything their pictures made them out to be. Surprisingly the next car I couldn't stop looking at the Morgan Aero Supersport.

The Jaguar XJ is a long, goofy looking car with an exquisite interior. Not better than the A8 though.......I have a lot of pics to post so I'll do them in installments as to not be on here forever..........

Bentley.....

What a car this Mulsanne is. Bentley has pulled off the impossible: looking like proper Bentley, but not old and stuffy like fans of the Continental series claimed the old Arnage was.

My new favorite ultra-luxury sedan.

There was also a Bentley Continental Series 51 Convertible on hand:

Maserati Granturismo Cabrio

Maserati has changed the name of the "GranCabrio" to the Granturismo Cabrio for the U.S. market. I like the new name better.

Chrysler is so desperate that they put Ferrari, Maserati and Fiat right in the middle of all their usual tired products just to draw some attention to the Chrysler area. There was only on Maser there behind a glass wall, the Granturismo Cabrio:

Slinky, sexy car, but not a jaw-dropper.....I'll wait for the inevitable "S" version to spice things up a bit.

Chrysler also pimped Ferrari. Can you believe they didn't even bring the 458 Italia? Oh well there was a California and a 599 XX on hand:

Audi

Th TTS in both the roadster and coupe forms is one of my favorite cars. Between the TTS and the Z4 the SLK is now third in a class of three.

There was an S5 Cabrio there also:

Not exactly bowled over by it, but I do like it. Audi used this color on the R8s also:

The R8 is a sick vehicle, but the R8 Spyder is just ridiculous. One of my favorites of the show.

The little E-Tron concept:

Can't wait to see what finally shows up in the Audi showroom based on this concept.

The rather disappointing A8:

While not an ugly car by any means, it is too dull for a top of the line luxury liner. The grille is a little bit much too, it actually needs the license plate holder to break up some of that over-chromed look.

The interior on the other hand is simply the best in class IMO:

I noticed that earlier today Dunkel, just didn't mention it. It may be the lighting and the character line not going well with the photo?

Thank you for the pics M:usa7uh:

I maybe missing the point...I think it's because we got use to the sleek, sporty and very elegant shape of the Bentley GT...The Mulsanne whilst being very luxurious and posh with a great interior looks dated and has a 'worried' look from the front...it looks just like the Morgan in the pics, Morgan Sedan:D

Love the color of the R8 V10...deep, rich and bronze:usa7uh:

Read what you said about the Jag vs A8...I agree...the Jag is a strange mix of French, British and German design...not balanced AT ALL.

American....now let me be totally honest...new Mustang GT and the new Chevy Camaro, styling wise BRILLIANT!!!!!!!
