Zhiji L7 Is An Electric Sports Sedan From China With Wireless Charging, 620-Mile Range
Say hello to the Zhiji L7, a new electric car created by Zhiji Auto, a joint venture between SAIC, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, and the Alibaba Group. The L7 promises a sub-4-second 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time, autonomous driving, and efficient wireless charging.

The buzz around the L7 began in January when Zhiji hosted a brand launch conference, unveiling two new vehicles, an SUV and the L7. It’s reported that the brand will start accepting reservations at the forthcoming Shanghai Auto Show next week, with deliveries set to commence during the first half of 2022.

The L7 is a bit of a tour de force even by the fast-paced standards of EV tech development. One of the highlights is that it will be the first car ever to have an 11 KW wireless charging system that is said to have a charging efficiency of 91% and a range of up to 80 km from a single hour of charge. The total range is quoted at 615 km (382 miles) with the 93 kWh battery. There will also be a long-range variant with a 118 kWh battery that gives the L7 a whopping 1000 km (621-mile) range.

While the details of just how autonomous the L7 will be aren’t clear yet, the car will be equipped with 12 cameras, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and a lidar. Meanwhile, power is said to be 400 kW (540 hp) with a peak torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), enough to propel the L7 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds.

The Chinese automaker described the design of the L7 as “pure Zhiji” in appearance, stating it will be available in three exclusive colors, Diana White, Repin Black, and Rapheal Tea. The interior creates a blend of classic and futuristic. A good example of this would be the wood veneer that has reportedly been selected from the shores of Lake Como in the Italian Alps, juxtaposed by a 39-inch 4K resolution smart screen spreading across the dash panel. The screen is the first of its kind to be fitted to a vehicle and runs its own intelligent OS.

Meanwhile in Wolfsburg.

A resurrection of the Bettle with 4 doors is not a bad idea, beyond the blatant copy as almost always and as the word copy is not in the Chinese dictionary, well we go

The White Zhiji L7 is copied the Peugeot 508 or the last DS sedan, but I like the front
That Zeekr that looks like the Porsche and so with so many

When Japanese with 6 BRANDS. Toyota, Nissan and Honda, plus Subaru, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, they revolutionized everything, then the Koreans with 2 BRANDS, Hyundai and Kia, gained a market share that it took others 100 years to obtain.

Just look at this thread, the avalanche of Chinese models of all shapes and colors, retro and futuristic style copying vehicles of any other brand and the fact that there are not 6 or 2 brands but more than 40+ imagine the commotion they will cause in the automotive environment, well they are already causing it in many parts of the world

The Beetle is an icon. If I was VW I would be mighty pissed. Whose to say that VW are thinking of reinventing the Beetle as an EV. It kind of ruins the initiative.

Ora Punk Cat Reveals How Similar It Is To The Classic Volkswagen

The final name has been disclosed with the official renderings.
We were waiting for Auto Shanghai 2021 to open its gates for several new products, but there was one that we were really curious about. It was the most recent example of how some Chinese brands do not feel embarrassed to copy other brand’s designs. In this case, the Ora Punk Cat is a copycat of the Volkswagen Beetle, ironically the first car we remember ever to present a frunk.
We had already written about it on April 13. Profile and rear images of the vehicle were enough to tell which car Ora got its inspiration from. Understandably, the company had not released any technical details at the time. Revealing the car and its name was apparently not enough for the company to disclose more information about it.

The Ora Punk Cat had its name chosen in an internet consultation. There were six name options: elf cat, punk cat, noble cat, Persian cat, royal cat, and big orange cat. Of the four vehicles Ora currently sells, three are named after cats: Good Cat, White Cat, and Black Cat. Auto Shanghai 2021 brought another one apart from the Punk Cat: the Lightning Cat, a smaller Panamera when it comes to design.

The only official information from Ora stresses the Punk Cat is a vehicle that the company hopes to appeal to women. It even says that the body resembles a carriage and has castle and princess drawings on its page about the car.
There’s no info on the range nor on which battery pack the vehicle uses. Ora cars normally have LFP battery packs and are known for being very affordable, such as the Ora R1 (Black Cat). Ora is one of the brands of Great Wall.

In the nostalgic interior, a single gauge is behind the steering wheel that reveals what is in the “gear” selector, speed, and at least two other sets of information we could not identify. A large horizontal LCD screen reveals the infotainment system and breaks the retro-feel of the interior, with its round air vents and green, pink, and white details.

Let’s hope Ora can disclose more information about the Punk Cat. We wonder if it will ever consider exporting the electric car. Men and women worldwide would probably consider buying one if Volkswagen is not willing to prevent that.

These ORA cars are delightfully funky. The catalysts for many future retro-funky BEVs' ?

It's a shame that, due to fear of spying, competative Chinese EVs will not be sold in western markets.

It's a shame that, due to fear of spying, competative Chinese EVs will not be sold in western markets.

There are a lot of Chinese BEV's that will be coming to Europe this year. I've seen an Xpeng G3 and the P7 Sports Sedan has been doing to rounds with potential buyers and the media. Why would you think they won't being exporting them?
