The X1 is an excellent looking car already, I hope the new front end doesn't mess it up.

Spy shots suggest the front fascia could look different than the iX3.

Here's to hoping that ALPINA embarks on a route significantly different to that of which M-B Maybach navigates. That being genuine, confident, sovereign yet visually subtle athletic elegance and quality as opposed to...well...Maybach.

My 2 Euro cents.

Of course, they will follow the path taken by Mercedes. It's all about making more money with less cost.

Again, just my 2 Euro cents...

But IMHO Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur is simply the far more compelling proposition. And something perhaps worth emulating.

I'll just readily admit to flat out not liking Maybach and the kitsch that it so often presents. It is always a detrimental image towards what I perceive what a Mercedes-Benz should be.

I’m guessing the same, unfortunately. Alpina exclusive models might come later in the future though.
It fits Alpina, they were always very flashy, with their distinctive colors, aero kits and golden stripes, combined with Mahagoni wood and beige interiors.

However compared to Maybach I expect them to be more sporty.

The exteriors of the Maybach are optimized for the Chinese and Arab market.

The interior however is absolutely gorgeous If you see it in person.

Where the Maybach shines is how it drives, tbh they were to flashy for my taste as well.

But after a short test drive, I started to feel the specialness of that car.

You can find this specialness also in the Rolls Royce and Bentley and nowhere else.

What Mercedes Benz could improve are the buttons of the interior, this is something which could be made with even higher quality.

I wouldn’t even compare the flashiness of Maybach and Alpina models tbh. I think Maybach’s are more in your face with all the logos, chrome etc. To many people an Alpina could easily be a regular BMW with some subtle modifications. Although saying that, it’s totally possible for an Alpina to look flashy, but it all comes to the customers taste. As far as the performance goes, I’m pretty certain that it won’t disappoint. They were always more performance oriented whereas Maybach focuses more on the luxury / comfort side.

I think Alpina will do both:
-High-end trim with modifications for series production BMWs.
-Reskinned halo or totally bespoke cars to fill the gap between BMW and RR.

How flashy the cars are, always depends from your configuration, you can order the Maybach without badges on the side and on the back of the car.
If you choose black as the color, even the Maybach can be fairly subtle.

Same goes for the Alpina. Without stripes and Badges and in black,it’s not flashy at all.

I suspect that this is what appeals to me most regarding ALPINA. Devoid of the signature ALPINA foil striping (frivolous and unnecessary IMHO) and in darker deep, rich metallic hues, these automobiles are genuinely "special" IMHO. Cultivated, elegant, self-confident.

I'd love to see a modern interpretation of something this epic.

Lovely car, but I would immediately add the sliver or even golden stripes.

The big wheels and the lowered ride high, shows immediately that’s it’s an Alpina.
