I think this 190D is the absolute opposite. Just a 2ltr in-line 4 diesel with only 72PS, but she does move quite leisurely and smoothly on the autobahn to reach that land speed record top speed haha

Yeah that is definitely not a real 2.3-16 model, it's missing the sports seats, sports dials in the center console, 260km/h speedo and 8000rpm tachometer reclined at 7000rpm.

That famous dog leg 1st gear Getrag gearbox

The standard model 190 shift pattern. Reverse is where 5th gear is on the dog leg gearbox.

190E 2.5-16 POV drive. Looks like the 1st to 2nd could get confusing lol

The W201 will be celebrating its 40-year debut anniversary soon. A landmark car for Mercedes to enter the compact saloon market. The real odd thing is it launched within a week or so of the E30 BMW 3-series which is another landmark car for BMW also. Both are legends.

And not center console dials and most important, no dog-leg gearbox!

It may not be real DTM edition, but at least it's well preserved. Besides, dog-leg transmissions are just stupid, you shift forwards and then you reverse into some gangster's Escalade who will order his goons to throw you in a river wearing concrete shoes.

And your precious 190 E with the dog-leg gearbox will end-up just like this 2.6

I guess scrapping cars is a fun business.

That's definitely the very first "Reduce to the max" attitude :D

Never knew about this little monster. Imagine taking the 5.0 ltr V8 (177kw/405m) from the W126 500SE and then putting it under the bonnet of the little 190E. Shultz Tuning did this in 1984 and it is a E30 M3 and E28 M5 killer.
