MMI - good or bad?

I know this is the Audi forum so i expect there to be a lot more positive comments which is great but it would really help if there were actual explanations supporting the argument.

Now, I don't want to sound negative but I really do not get all the praise that Audi seems to have gotten for their MMI system. It's really easy to use which is a given but after some extensive use in a TT and a Q7 I'm really quite frustrated with it to be honest. I hate the fact in the TT that it isn't on the panels next to the gearshift since that would be the ideal position as BMW and MB and even Audi has adopted itself in some of its models. It is an absolute pain when you need to take your eyes of the road and go searching for the controls in the centre of console. Add this to the problem of localization for RHD. I may just be searching for flaws here but boy does it piss me off when I need to rotate the dial counter-clockwise to scroll through. I know this may seem trivial to a lot of people but it's just one of those things. I'm more used to the MB and BMW systems where you rotate it clockwise and whenever I enter the TT I always end up turning it clockwise and cursing the goddamned system.
I must say I even prefer the iDrive in the 5 much better than MMI (although MMI is better to use than the 7).
I still get confused using MMI with its plethora of buttons while its very intuitive for me to use COMAND III and iDrive in the 5-series. I know almost everybody thinks just the other way around so I wanted to get opinions on exactly why.

Is there any basis for me to be this mad or am I just looking for problems?

P.S. I have no hate towards Audi. I love MB and BMW more (due to their designs) but absolutely love the TT and the R8.

All three systems require a degree of learning. Then they become second nature. Similar to when we learn the times table...

I love iDrive. Everything in my control and I can keep my eyes looking forward as I view the screen. I try not to ever use it when I am travelling but.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
