Alex, sorry, I new you were'nt arguing with me on that point, I just wanted to clarify my statement. Sometimes I say things and when I go back and read them I feel they might be misinterpreted - I just thought I sounded a bit critical of Americans in that post - I'm sure our American friends get a bit sick and tired of continually being unfairly criticized - the thing is, America is not so much different from Western Europe in many respects :usa7uh: .

Although, unlike Bum-man, I like the looks of the G class, I do agree with him in essence.

Also Luwalira, I agree with you that the Cayenne and RR are also bought by people who will never take their cars off-road - That's precisely my point - ISN'T THE G ABOVE THAT?

Artist, I don't agree with you that all money is equal - I'm surprised a good Muslim boy like you would think drug money was as legitimate as hard earned cash.

Does anybody still buys the G?? A classic doesn't mean it has to be contiunally produced... And I for one would NOT buy a "new" but "old" car...

That's precisely what I think too bmwownage. I love the W100 - do you think Daimler-Chrysler might consider producing it again for me ;)

People do still buy the G, but many buyers are not the market for which it was originally intended. - DCX say in their press release, that the popularity of the G class today lies mostly in it's appearance - I'm sorry but this goes against everything Mercedes is supposed to stand for - I guess I'm just too much of a traditional Mercedes Fan.

From Daimler Chrysler's press release:
The vehicle’s striking shape, which has remained nearly unchanged over a period of almost three decades, has made the “G” a design classic with cult status. Together with its legendary ruggedness, the off-roader’s design has contributed most to its popularity. “Mercedes-Benz wrote automotive history by always ensuring that the G-Class remained state of-the-art over the past 26 years, and it will continue to offer its customers the very latest technology in the future,” says Zetsche.

I just want to make it perfectly clear to all of you, that I also love the G class
My opinions are based purely on what I feel are the true values of the Mercedes brand.

I had this Brabus version on my desktop for a while.

I'm suprised to find out that many of you have got a beef with the G-wagon. It might not be the most modern looking car but it does look quite good and sells well so let it live. :)

I apologize to anyone who has been personally offended by any of my previous posts in this thread. I have edited some of my comments because upon reviewing them, I thought perhaps I could have been more civil in the way I expressed my opinions.:)

No worries, but thanks Roberto for you care. :usa7uh:

They still sell, and i see them daily at least a couple a day which is alot for such a rare truck, i even have a black used one on my lot. Everyone who comes in for a truck always says one day they will get it! Therefore i feel many like the image and that its a Mercedes-Benz.
