Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Trending discussions, standout car designs, major automotive developments, industry shifts, reviews, and topics generating strong community interest.
Which was nonsense because they don’t have a big government financing their developments like the Chinese car companies have.

There’s no public company on the planet who can compete with a government like China with 1.4b people.

It’s like Dog fight with a knife and a nuke. Guess who wins.
Still cowardly to just give up.
Just giving up the whole automotive industry to a geopolitical rival is unfathomable stupidity.

But a CLAR is even more outdated tech, like 2020, so why bother keep doing it ?

CLAR is an ICE platform. ICE platforms are not being developed new anymore by anyone. So there's nothing better coming so there's no point in updating.

Things can only be outdated when there's something better. If it's been on the market for however long and there's nothing better, it's not outdated.

They don’t give up, they change their business model.

It’s probably much cheaper to buy Chinese batteries and drivetrains and combine it with bespoke design, suspension and interiors.

In a few years almost all European car companies will be in Chinese hands anyway.

BMW, Mercedes, VAG never ever going to happen.
All the other European companies are meaningless. Nobody gives a f#ck whether Renault is Chinese or French. Probably better off being Chinese.

Yeah in the short term sure. In the long term it's a complete dead end and in fact the end of your company.

There are ways to extract knowledge from China to. Just do what they did to Tesla.
Allow them to run factories in Europe, but demand they use local parts, manufacturers and supply chains. That way, they're basically doing a knowledge transfer whilst building and selling their cars.

In fact I remember hearing that's what they were planning on doing and China got offended. But at the end of the day, it's a taste of their own medicine.

Well not really.
They made a 510hp rwd C63 at the same time they made a 476hp AMG GT.

Different segments. A few folks will buy the more expensive one just because it's a more "exclusive" car.

And again, this car will serve it's purpose as a technology testbed. Which is invaluable in and of itself. You have to stay competitive.
You really shouldn’t have to explain this. I have never read so many totally out of comments. Don’t you have to be grown to post here?
