Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
All new internals. Clutch packs, torque converter, input/output shafts, etc. It wouldn't be anything their engineers couldn't handle. It's just that pesky cost/benefit thing again. ;)
AFAIK no problem at all, and it’d allow Mercedes Benz to develop P2 Hybrid with V8 Power.

Did you see that the V8 PHEV were developed als P3 Hybrid with the electric motor on the rear axle ( GT63SE,SL63SE,S63SE), that’s because the 9G is too weak to handle an additional E-Motor between the engine and the gearbox.

On the S580e Mopf the power has been increased to 585PS from 510PS, but torque stays at 750Nm.
Mercedes should really invest in making the 725.0 more robust, Especially in AMG models.

Under our management, I will bankrupt BMW within 5 years, and Dopebouy Mercedes in 2 years.....from my POV, he's just that tiny little bit more insane.

Carbon tubbed light weight sports sedans for the masses, with NA I6, RWD and 6 speed.

Nope, I guess both companies would be worth more than Tesla,Ferrari,LVMH and Hermes combined.

Because the Market would see them as the ultimate luxury/Spaceship/IT/EV sportscar companies.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I’d for sure tell them to make a rear Mid-Engine V12 Supercar & sell it for $300k

True. Giving people what they want in times like this would be a fundamental strategy.

China is dead anyway

China's going to come back again eventually. The Germans have the prestige and heritage which is impossible to engineer. Just keep making excellent products. Literally all they have to do. The future is far and away less certain for all these new age Chinese brands, they face problems we are oblivious to. Most are in a race to the bottom where they will wither and die.

Forged carbon might be cheap enough, sales price of the current M3, and I guess 50k sales worldwide are doable with DKG even 120k sales are possible.

All Nurburgring warriors are gonna buy them, usually 5 per/year of which 4 are getting totaled during the season.

Saw them mention their cars have a 10 year/1 million KM warranty. Is it Propaganda? Do they even offer parts for repairs?

They can give 100 year warranty. Means little if your car company doesn't exist anymore in 6 years. If true, it's a part of their race to the bottom in outdoing their competitors. There's no winners here.

Nothing over there seems sustainable, meanwhile BMW and Mercedes have been going for over a century. We'll see where the ship strands, but the Germans will be there like they've always been.

It doesn’t matter because Chinese people change them usually every 3 yrs, and the EV ones are ending on the garbage because there’s no market for used EVs in China. It’s like Mobil phones.

I think going forward that’s what AMG Black Series should be all about. Lightweight Chassis, Track-Focused suspension & Forged Carbon parts but this time around they introduce it as a ‘Final Boss’ of every AMG car & not just the AMG GT, Just like BMW CS/CSL models.

Imagine a 4-door C63 Black Series? An E63 Black Series? They’d do phenomenal on the track . This could all work if they price these at 20%-25% more than their 63 models.

Note : ( E-Performance models cost that much more than their 63 models )

What’s awesome if they implement this is that these type of models can go as crazy as it gets without fear of suspension being too stiff or too uncomfortable since the normal 63 models would still be available.

Considering that the GLE53 now make 577hp, I would expect at least 625-650hp from the GLE63. I'm a little surprised Mercedes doesn't offer either PHEV powertrains (GLE53, GLE500e) in the GLS. I wonder if there would be a market for a GLS 500e in the USA?

I understand, V12's are the most refined engines, I drove a 7 series long time ago and felt EV like but now you can get same experience in a i7, EQS.
The V12 engine is one of finest configurations for any car, it combines unrivalled refinement with an amazing exhaust and engine note and it possesses a soul that no i7 or EQS can match. Would you prefer to listen to silence and then the sounds of a whirring spaceship when accelerating or silence and then the beautiful noise of the thoroughbred V12 playing to your ears?

China is dead anyway

Ummmm...no.

It is however on the threshold of a transformation in which the incomprehensible plethora of brands will be culled significantly. But those who are certain to remain, BYD, Geely, SAIC (with it's various joint ventures with European manufacturers), Xiaomi and Huawei (with their immense software/battery tech prowess) are firmly anchored in the global automotive ecosystem.

That having been said, much of the rapidly impending doomsday narratives regarding German manufacturers and their brands can be relegated to the ranks of myth. Cash/net liquidity is abundant. Especially that pertaining to M-B and BMW. And even the often portrayed as "goners" Porsche and Audi are very far from insolvency. Getting priorities right and focusing somewhat further forwards will be of essence-and by adhering to that, the current storm can be weathered.
