Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Looking at it in the long term, it makes sense since ICEs will only be banned in Europe and it wouldn't make much sense to develop two different cars of the same model, both in platform and design, just for the USA, Asia and the rest.

Mercedes U-turn on shared tech for petrol and EV cars bucks the trend
Mercedes will consolidate its ICE and BEV models into single projects, but still offer both powertrains
Wrong conclusions from auto express.
Next e class eq, Mercedes MB EA
Next s class eq, Mercedes MB EA large or EVA 2 evo
Maybe , step by step means in the long term future, depending on market demand.
For the coming 3 4 years two different platforms
For sure.

That's right, it probably refers to a possible long-term scenario after this stage?

So why did BMW abandon the shared platform and develop the Neue Klasse? The industry is moving in a very strange direction.

Yeah noone has an answer anymore at this point. They share and they don't share, the reasons as to why is in a thick mist.

For BMW starting the NK with 3er based cars might have to do with being the big volume models where it's worthwhile to develop bespoke platforms for ICE and BEV. That my guess at least.

This is a dream scenario. Bespoke BEV and bespoke ICE is the way to go.
For the SUVs they can easily do a hybrid ICE platform that supports full BEV because these cars are big enough to support BEV without looking weird..

Developing and engineering state of the art, cutting edge technology cell-in-body, solid state BEV architectures while "compromising" them by providing an ICE option, other than an extremely compact, drivetrain disconnected range extender that could easily fit into a frunk, is highly inefficient retrocorrection that only heavily compromises both the BEV as well as ICE versions. A form of plastic surgery that has gone terribly wrong, leaving more scar tissue on the platform than there is on...

ICE won’t be banned, the poles would rather become deserts than the ICE would be banned.

People already started to vote for parties who are against the ban of ICEs.

But EVs are here to stay.

No they won't be banned. It's just that compared to 2021, the EU demands 50% CO2 reduction by 2030, and a 90% reduction by 2035.

Good luck buying an ICE by then. I mean, you can sure.

Yeah Dopebuoy just wants a V8 in everything from A class to S class. This forum doesn't live in reality.

Also, Night Package now adds more black details to the exterior. Logos on the wheels get blacked out as well, among other stuff.

Polar White roof is also available, though it’s been available for a while now. But it’s not compatible with every color.

I expect the 90% to be watered down a little bit, this will surely help.

From C Class onwards the V8 is finde, I guess in the A-Class it’d be too cramped.
