You are right, the issue lies with the fact that the F700 and other F concepts remained fully Concepts. Nothing came out of them.

If we look at the design that inspired the EQ line - namely the EQS concept - its way, waaaay out there among the most beautiful Merc, and dare I say most beautiful car concepts ever. It was prefect in every way.

Why are the EQ cars hated so much? Because they could not execute this in real life - they promised something and could bot deliver. Whatever production model came out - even at and EQS level - it was lacking in every way. The general shape was just so slightly more bloated that it ruined it. The front angle and plastic parts were different enough that it made all the difference in the world. Mercedes went from being special, a pioneer to milking a hypecow, and with the current shitty GL cars with stars everywhere they still do that.
Yeah the EQS concept looked awesome. The real car did not.
If the real car did look anything like the EQS concept, people would not have cared.
 
The VLE for instance was totally acceptable in its transformation from concept to production. It’s a tricky thing but Mercedes has pulled it off brilliantly in the past, but with the EQ cars they just didn’t.

If this had turned up in showrooms Mercedes wouldn’t have been able to build them fast enough.

I think calling it the most beautiful concept ever is a reach, but it was definitely great. If only they could translate that into the production version.
 
Mercedes has a habit of making stunning concept cars that don't seem to transition into a production car or if they end up as a production car they look absolutely worse than the concept.

The 1994 SLK Concept, 1993 E class coupe concept (future CLK) 2014 S class coupe concept are some concepts I remember that turned into good looking and popular production cars.

You gotta stop acting ignorant . It says “Car Of the Year”, elsewhere it says “Europe Car of the Year”. By September there’ll be another car of the year & you’ll be out here writing paragraphs again😂.
