Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Yeah but I am not going to hold out much longer. My eyes are getting tiny.

I admit I slept a few h between the start and the second part of the race.

I guess If you wake up in 4h, you’ll still be able to watch the most interesting part ( last 20min, are usually the most spectacular ones).

i doubt it’s gonna look any different, E53 already looks macho. Although this source talks exactly about what you’re saying💯.
Good news then. W214 is gorgeous but the 53 looks so dull. I would want my AMG to be easily identifiable, basically similar approach to BMW’s standard vs M cars.

I'd like for them to do two trims for an E63. One full bore aggressive body kit, the other a stealth set up. I've always loved the idea of a sleeper, but these days with the amount of styling, you lose a bit of that sleeper appeal.

Didn’t wanna upload this in a car forum, But do you speak another version of english? Macho = Masculine/Aggressive.

Thanks for the explanation, I'm still relatively new to the English language.

Anyhow, you've had to explain your feelings about the cars aesthetic, which makes your stance untenable. Apparently. *.

*I appreciate you're new here and might not get the joke. Some Mercedes fans here absolutely loose their shit for literal pages, if you make any effort - like any descriptive words at all - to explain or describe why you like the look of a car - they think that means it's inexcusably ugly. We regularly have to endure this view point in some BMW threads, so I'm merely highlighting that experience for those that might not have been on the receiving end of it before. The joke is commonly referred to by stating something has 'presence' - if you like it, just say it has Presence, if you hate it just say it has Presence.

Oh I have vivid memories of the ✨presence✨

i think the inline 6 & V8 engine are gonna do well for aslong as they can put them in:
C-class
E-class
GLC
GLE
GLS
They should consider putting the GLC450d OM656 in the C-class too, would be a nice as a top of the line diesel.

In the North American market, that may indeed be the case. In the EU, the V8 will appeal to a very limited audience. The il6 will find a somewhat broader audience. But as far as ICE/Hybrids go, it will be all about the il4s. And should M-B and AMG see a "trickle down" effect pertaining to what may be very impressive battery/e-motor technology (axial flux, solid state, perhaps range extension, affordable state of the art innovation due to economies of scale and less reckless, shortsighted money grab corporate modus operandi), hesitation to embrace BEVs will slowly but surely evaporate.

Im sorry for what i’m about to say but the EU side of things is what’s killing AMG. Why?

Here’s the thing.. if you want a fast, emotional, rowdy performance car it needs : To have a big engine, perform really good & sound exceptionally great.

Now with the EU people liking more of these EVs/Hybrids it changes AMGs direction by the sales charts since they will always want to cater for ‘what sells’. And then they complain about how AMG is NOT releasing monstrosities of engines like they’re supposed to do. it’s because they CAN’T risk it, The sales charts say otherwise. For as long as the EU Doesn’t support their local carmakers & demand for big emotional engines, AMG will always lead to these 700HP 4cylinders & 1300hp EVs with no SOUL.

No need to apologize. It is your opinion.

A bit of a one dimensional perception of a topic that is far more complex. And infested with highly politicized narratives.

Is this actually "sustainable" in a bigger picture scenario ?
And then they complain about how AMG is NOT releasing monstrosities of engines like they’re supposed to do.

Dare I ask : Who is "they" ? What constitutes "their" demographic ? Could aversity to transition play a role ? And precisely what constitutes "no soul" ?

Make no mistake. I am not a fanatic advocate of BEVs. I see remaining issues that need to be dealt with quickly. Rural infrastructures, the delays of the advantages of economies of scale and less complex, more automated manufacturing processes actually being passed down in order to benefit customers, some pretty silly regulation regarding utility and tax costs by dilettantic policy makers...

And my personal experiences with BEVs have been limited. However...those experiences that I've had were all enjoyable. Experiences with vehicles such as the Audi RS etron GT, KIA EV6, Smart #1 BRABUS, VW ID.4 to name a few. I simply am quite prepared to embrace a technology that IMHO will eventually become inevitably dominant. And I'm an old guy whose has had an abundance of experiences with all sorts of ICE vehicles and have owned many myself. My current vehicle is an 11 year old, boring but so reliable ICE drivetrain smaller SUV.

Guys, I think by the end of the year we'll see prototypes of the future SUV that will replace the A-Class. What do you think?

Being frank. You don't need to go very far to find people absolutely pillorying the C63SE for lacking the 'soul' of an AMG and pronouncing it an awful product. You don't need to look far at all to find people pointing and laughing at the commercial failures of EV sports cars.

"They" is everyone.

Can you find a single person on this very forum that likes the C63? Does anyone like the AMG EQE53? People like the Taycan, but are also "Haha, look how much of a failure it is commercially"

I can't.

So with that in mind, this idea that Mercedes are being myopic by bringing back in-line sixes and V8s to their AMGs is a bit silly to me. Because all evidence points to the fact that the market that's interested in expensive performance cars, do not want downsized motors and BEVs.

But again, it's not like Mercedes has completely abandoned them either. The AMG EV portfolio still exists and is still in development. There are planned EQ AMGs for other models with 1000hp. So I don't follow the logic...
It's exactly the same thing that BMW is doing, but nobody runs around in those threads complaining about the short sightedness of making a G50 M3 with an inline 6.

Another flop of a car in my books. Because what’s the reason for this if it’ll co-exist with the GLA,GLB & Mini G? They’re all the same car to the average carbuyer who just wants something that goes from A to B.

Some people prefer the smaller profile of a straight up hatchback over a small crossover.

They’ll have to price this A-class very well so that it doesn’t get cannibalised because people won’t mind paying €2,000 more just so they can have the GLB since it feels more like an SUV💯
