Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Clearly, I'm hopelessly out of touch when it comes to modern day "hip" vehicles.

I cannot help but immediately associate "vans" with utilitarian, commercial vehicles. They may be fitted with boudoir-appropriate appointments, but still...they're like delivery vans carrying plush furniture. Or like oxen wearing makeup.
It sounds like you haven't experienced traveling in one of the good, well-equipped new (or old) vans. Just a 90s Chevrolet Astro (4.3-liter V6) could transport you to a different world with all the available comforts included: radio and air conditioning controls in the back with headphone jacks, everything for each seat, huge seats, plush suspension, legs stretched out like in a limousine—pure pleasure.

That's true. Other than perhaps a generously configured VW Multivan or two, my experiences are limited. I'm probably not the ideal passenger in any vehicle. I simply enjoy being behind the wheel. Lesser so with passing time, but still prefer driving to being driven. Probably why I can't "get" large extended wheelbase sedans/limos or these luxovans in the context of being a car fan..

They're popular as taxis. Usually transporting smaller groups of passengers heading to birthday parties, weddings or similar sorts of celebrations. Or what we refer to as "Sammel-Taxis" here in Germany.

The combination of the ride and seat design in the back wasn't just bad it, it was literally pain inducing, it was garbage and I'd recommend the Ford Transit variant we normally get over it... but there's nothing in principal that stops a van like this from being a luxurious experience. It just needs proper suspension and proper seats.

Must have been poorly specced.

Im told the higher specced ones are really nice, air suspension, acoustic glass etc, and the most luxurious vans you can buy.

The transit is good, other than the engine.

This is a standard vito it’s a commercial with seats and not the V class suspension or seats

You can’t compare it with a V.

Different seats, different suspension, additional sound deadening, different door cards, different dashboard.
