It's almost like we're seeing two different test mules. This one looks terrible, but the previous one didn't. On another issue, I wonder if Mercedes would ever consider a bigger SUV to sit above the GLS?

M
That would be one gargantuan SUV. I don’t think they would consider such vehicle though, maybe something USA exclusive, cause GLS is already so big for Europe standards.

The rear is still a question mark. The car sometimes looks too bulky, sometimes too athletic. It might look good from the side, but I have little hope for the rear.
I’m pretty certain that it will be very similar to the GLC. I think that taillight design will spread across the whole SUV and EQ range as well. GLE and GLS are also getting that with the FL.

Or to increase the size of the GLS, TBH it’s too big for Europe and way too small for the USA.

As I said on another thread, the GLS should grow 12 inch’s. The real competitor is the incredibly successful Escalade.
Yeah the GLS should grow taller and slightly longer.
Current dimensions :
Length - 5209mm
Height - 1823mm
Width - 1956mm (No mirrors)
The next GLS should be at least 5400mm length, 1900mm height & 2050mm wide without mirrors.

it is the S-class SUV after all so it should be ‘Grosser’ . Another thing is that it must be different from the GLE & share anything that the next S-class will have.

That's huge and would make the car near impractical to live with in many places in Europe. It unlikely that MB would produce such a big car unless it was a pickup or commercial vehicle.

That’s so petite. I think it should be at least 6000mm in length, 2200mm in height & 2500mm wide without mirrors.

Can't say that I particularly care for the rear door glass and the extention into the C-pillars. Partition creases obstruct the visual flow and are simply not very elegant. The W214 has this element down pat.

With recent spyshots of the next BMW X7 & Audi Q9 i’d say they’re pretty much gonna have those exact dimensions, Making the GLS look small.

So they need to move the GLS more upmarket, bigger in size & start treating it like an S-class SUV instead of a stretched GLE.

Well it will always be an extended GLE, just like how the X7 is an extended X5.
