It wouldn't because its not a Rolex.

But my point was less that than, the existence of a 7k Rolex, doesn't make the 20k Rolex less desirable.

A 7k rolex doesnt look like a 50k rolex. Its a stupid argument youre making when its completely different. A 7k rolex and a 50k rolex is a completely different model.

Honestly i do not think the Big G will be losing any sleep. The Mini G will be 4,3m long as much a we know so far & somewhere around GLB in height , The Big G will still be way bigger.

4.3m is really short,I am curious about the interior space.

I guess it’ll be really cramped inside.

Those 2 pictures are very interesting, I really think we might get only transversal engines.

Have a look at the space between windscreen and front wheel, that’s too short for a longitudinal engine configuration. That’s where they cut at least 15cm. The trunk might be 10cm shorter as well, and there’s probably 5cm less legroom.

That’s exactly the 30cm difference to the 465, which isn’t a long car without the sparewheel.

i too was thinking the same, would be a miracle to see Merc fit the longitudinal M264 & M256 engines in this, might just be EV only😵‍💫.

Looks too “car-like” compared to the actual G. You could get rid of the spare wheel and call it the new GLB, and people would totally believe it, lol.
And as far as the sales go, regular G won’t be losing any sales, like, at all. This little g could even flop, who knows. That scenario won’t happen to the G anytime soon though, unless the world economy crashes or something. 🤣

Yeah the Big G is not losing sales anytime soon, we should close this chapter now😂.

I agree with you 100% (maybe here are people who dont understand the watch industry) but at 50k you enter the price point of the holy trinity and from that the sky is the limit, so only if you are a brand stuck can buy a Rolex 50k
Same in the car industry, i would not buy an 100k C class/A5/3series (even the Amg/M/Rs variants those who does are from the same brand stuck category and want that particularity object)

Those anticipating an Adonis may be disappointed.

But...if M-B can somehow rejuvinate some traditional qualities of yore (precise, robust fit and finish, solid mechanical engineering, vault like assembly quality, etc.) , this may be just fine for an entry level "core" M-B.

After all, the W110, W114/8 and W123 were arguably not the prettiest automobiles of their respective eras. Yet desirable for many...and massively successful.

The rear is still a question mark. The car sometimes looks too bulky, sometimes too athletic. It might look good from the side, but I have little hope for the rear.

It's almost like we're seeing two different test mules. This one looks terrible, but the previous one didn't. On another issue, I wonder if Mercedes would ever consider a bigger SUV to sit above the GLS?

Or to increase the size of the GLS, TBH it’s too big for Europe and way too small for the USA.

As I said on another thread, the GLS should grow 12 inch’s. The real competitor is the incredibly successful Escalade.

Too small for the USA is a stretch. It sells. Making it that much bigger would mean the GLE would need to move up. Not sure about that strategy.

I am genuinely surprised that it sells although the 3rd row is really cramped.

The GLE could move up a bit, about 4in. because this is exactly what I expect from the new X5.
