Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Milking the G-Wagon up to the last drop might be the end of the hype it’s getting in the last years.

The G-Class mean exclusivity and stands nearly for a standalone brand, as it looks anything like the bland lineup.

This should never be greenlighted IMO.

The G-Class it’s the best opportunity for Mercedes to go upmarket without making tacky Maybach crap rebadges, so what they do it’s the complete opposite.
Couldn’t agree more.

The Devil's in the details.
Its a ladder frame chassis, not a unibody, and I would assume they've kept the chunky, clunky doors and all of that.
Looks like it'll be a cute lil' guy to me.
Overall proportions scream G-Wagon for sure, but the problem for me is the lower ground clearance. It would’ve been much better if it was a bit higher imo.

You could probably have levelled the same argument about the Range Rover Sport and Evoque and so on, but that didn't really kill the hype around Range Rover.

Or the Ghost with respect to the Phantom, or the Cayman with respect to the 911, or the Flying Spur with respect to the Mulsanne. Or the E/C class with respect to the S class.

Ultimately, the Big G will still be an extremely expensive, extremely exclusive car. The existence of a smaller version of it, doesn't cheapen that. As long as the G class remains a good vehicle, and does what its clientele want it to do, it'll be fine.

This down market reach didn't affect the Range Rover's status when the Velar and Evoque were introduced, so I highly doubt the big G will be affected.

Dude , let's agree on something , please .

Done this in the past with Klier. Look's like you have some special beef with me.

Can you please , ignore me , and I will do this also? ( I am doing it already ; but for the sake of it )

Cardboard in a car , by any meaning , is stupid . Cardboard absorbs humidity . Sooner , or later .

This is just cost cutting. Yes , I expect better sound proofing from a "luxury car" .

And there are so many other ways to sound proof your car , with better future proof materials

Please watch the video . That is exactly what it's done : replacing the cardboard with proper sound dampening materials.

So again , please , just ignore me . I don't want your petty cheap beef with absolutely anything I write

Have a good day
It’s stupid for you to believe that cardboard could even be used for that purpose. I mean like seriously where is your basic common sense? Do you think cardboard will repel noise? The problem you keep having here is that you post a lot of stupid, baseless bullshit and people are tired of reading it. You’re too thirsty for anything negative you can find, regardless of it makes sense or not.

Some of you MB fanboys simply can't see the writings on the wall

Keep defending this piece of crap that MB has become . Overpriced plastic and cardboard at the price of gold and hoarders appeal.

Keep applauding . MB needs every last of you.

Yours sincerely, and ex-called "MB fanboy"

Well, pretty much everyone has some sort of a bias towards their favorite brands, including myself. It’s much better to be as objective as possible.

No one is applauding. Everyone here knows Mercedes has problems, but you’re out of if you think simple cardboard is used as sound deadening. It’s BS and you’re hosed. What exactly is the writing on the wall? They’re going out of business?

M

Do you honestly think Mercedes is using cardboard to deaden sound in their cars?

M
No mate, I’m not talking about that topic. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the biased fanatic stuff.
As far as the cardboard stuff goes, no, I don’t think so.

It’s also funny how a certain user accuses me of “never liking” a Mercedes product when we got a E220d like a week ago, lol.
Jokes aside, it will be really interesting to own both i5 and the E-Class at the same time. 2 main rivals in the same garage!
