Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Personally, I find the "lower level" new GLB (EQ) more visually compelling than the GLC EQ. Not only in terms of the grill/shield. I like the new GLB.
I’m getting used to it as well. I actually prefer the side and rear view of the current one over the old model, it’s the face that makes it worse imo. New taillight design look really cool too.

The interior looks to be the same design. Either way the proportions are terrible compared to the ICE C.

I think the C EV could be Mercedes answer to the BMW i4 GC, it looks to have the rear end of a hatch and not a saloon. I reckon the front end will look very similar to the GLC with a large grill but with the front height of the ICE C-class.

Its going to look alot different to the ICE C-class, even the FL ICE C will look different to the EV model.

The car in your avatar looks more disproportionate.

They are both horrific.

Just that BMW has its NK already, Mercedes an AI based on Windows XP for recycling designs of the past 15 years.

They need to reimagine theirselfs like BMW and Audi did.

They also need to get rid of the illuminated grille. It works on BMW’s since the kidney grille is such an iconic part of the brand, but makes no sense with Merc’s.

I believe illuminated grille looks tacky in both brands. In both being a consequence of derivate looking designs, with each brand in need to remind the customer that their cars are indeed BMWs and MBs. G70 7er, G60 5er, G45 X3 and every modern MB are good examples of this.

Interesting. I think the total opposite.

Uhm, a concept based off a car that's not going to be produced anyways hardly is a reimagination of the brand.

We'll see with Audi. For now they are by far the worst with their line-up and immediate future.
Hey, at least Audi is able to produce an exciting looking concept. Where is the equivalent for MB?

It’s this sad IMO.

IMHO, BMW appears to be the "best prepared" of the "Big Three" German manufacturers in this particular context. The new ix3 looks splendid. I expect the same from the NA0 i3 sedan and the upcoming ix5. And remain confident that BMW will carry these themes on future products well into the late 2020s into the early 2030s.

As for Audi: I can only hope for the incoming, new Massimo Fraschella supervised "Radical Next" generation of vehicles. The Concept C is quite a remarkable piece of designcraft. Hopefully, Audi will infuse a great deal of its precise, razor sharp, fine minimalistically surfaced, wheels flush and well proportioned design into all of its future vehicles. What Audi now offers are frequently warmed-up, uninspiring leftovers. That MUST change. Quickly.

M-B ? IMHO, all that can be said is "Quo vadis". No idea what the eye appeal, or lack of it, of the vehicles presented as of the upcoming E-Class EQ will be. Technology offered is stellar. But design ? More recently, I oddly like the GLB EQ most of all presentations. CLA and GLC EQ are leaving me lukewarm at the very best. No lofty expectations regarding the C-Class EQ. The soon to be presented, technologically amazing AMG.EA 4 door GT ? In terms of design, a great many devils could lie in the details. Very apprehensive of that, I'm afraid. M-B has an unfortunate propensity for "tacking stuff" on their vehicles more recently.

I stumbled across this image that has been presented in the Italian-language edition of Auto Motor und Sport:

Could it be relatively "accurate" ?:

Waiting with "bated breath excitement" ? Not the slightest clue so far. Others should perhaps be the judges.
