Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Jesmb has it listed for 2016. Same that the new I4 (it says 2016/2017).

So, taking into account the new 4.0 V8 is here to replace the 4.7 and 5.5 V8s, and that new I6s and I4s are comming within the next 2 years, it seems MB will replace its entire engine line up.

I think 65 AMGs will start using the 4.0 V8 maybe with some electric engine or with more power than the 63s, and the V12 AMG will be used for the 600 models.
Is there a possibility for new v12 engine if they combine the new I6 engines

The current V12 is long in the tooth, effectively it dates back to the 2003 introduction of the bi-turbo 5.5ltr V12 in the W220 S600. It is the only Mercedes engine that is still using 3 valves per cylinder. Okay it has been modified over the years and now is 6.0ltr in capacity but the design is behind the times and I am sure for future emissions it will need to be replaced.

Lets hope AMG will take the new I6 and double it to form a new modern V12.

Future S600 - 450kw (612PS) and 900NM
Future S65 AMG - 515kw (700PS) and 1000nm (1100nm if gearbox allows)

I think the V12 engine dates back even further than that, the pre face lift W220 S600 was first to receive the 3 valve V12 engine, the two turbo chargers were added at face lift time in 2003.

Yes you are correct, this 3 valve V12 actually started in about 1999 in NA form as a 5.8ltr, so 16 to 17 years in production (2 generations of cars) means it is time for retirement!

I do wish to see a brand new V12 with all the modern day tech but I don't think there is a business case, or sufficient customer request to justify a brand new V12 engine. Maybe it is possible for MB to give the current V12 new cylinder heads at least?

No big one at Geneva it seemed..I would expect MB put up big shows at NYC and Shanghai next month.

Yeah Geneva has been a let down for me regarding Mercedes. I expected a new regular production model. The GLE, C Coupe, GLC or something, but oh well.

From Autocar:

1402 AMG chief Tobias Moers also revealed to Autocar’s Mark Tisshaw that Mercedes-AMG has ‘parked’ the special-edition Black Series badge for the time being, although he promised that it will return on an as-yet unspecified AMG model in the future. “The Black Series name stays,” said Moers. “It will be necessary in the future, but for now the base cars are so good. The Black Series must be at the top of the hill, but I don’t know when or on what model yet.”

1355 Autocar’s digital editor Mark Tisshaw reports that Mercedes-Benz will launch a new C-class Coupé at the Frankfurt motor show in September, complete with a C63 AMG version that will be a "breakthrough" for the brand according to AMG boss Tobias Moers, although he didn’t go into greater detail. The new C- class Coupe will be an even sleeker design than the S-class Coupe, says design chief Gorden Wagener, which will be "even better to drive than it looks". Mercedes has so far launched saloon and estate versions of the C-class, but the range will soon expand with coupe and convertible variants.

Damn I am excited already, they are onto something very special with the coupe then. So far Mr. Moers has delivered everything he has promised with the GT and C63, he is a man of his words. Sorry Mr. Zetsche sorry Mr. Wagener, Tobias Moers is now my favourite man in MB.

Well, they have done an amazing job with the C63. The Coupe should be even more astonishing.

After all, the M4 is such a strong competitor, they need something BIG.

MB BMW'd a big car show. Usually BMW has a yawnworthy show, but this time MB decided to join them.

So Geneva was a fizzer then...
No.

Come on Marcus .....Don't become the grumpy "old man" of GCF .....that's Martin's job.:D

Overall they presented a diverse group of new vehicles this year.

^ no it was a very crappy show by MB standards.

Just a race car not built for public streets. And I suppose that fugly Las Vegas cruiser.
