S-Class (W223) Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Facelift

Added to Calendar: 01-29-26

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013. Body Styles: W223 (standard), V223 (long), Z223 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach). Production: 2020- Model years: 2021-
I would love to see the S class grow to a truly imposing size for this day and age of humungous crossovers and SUV galore. If the proportions are spot on like the current gen, I see nothing but win. If it only grows in overhang, we're indeed on the wrong path. The wheelbase needs to grow with it.
True the S needs to pose a statement, it needs to be a big car. it’s a car you need to struggle finding parking because of the amount presence it needs. it should never be the size of an E-class, it needs to prove who’s daddy!💯

Geez. How much bigger should it be? It's already unwieldy in any European city. If they make the current LWB the SWB I guess that's fine. But then how long will the Maybach end up being?

He’s over exaggerating it. The car would look like a f*cking spaghetti if it got that long. They would have to make the car much taller to balance the overall proportions, which I highly doubt they would, so it’s just pure nonsense. I expect nothing more than 10 centimeters, but then again, it’s still not needed. The car is already big enough, especially for European standards. It’s funny cause the current Maybach is already at 5.46 meters and it’s looong as hell, so can’t even imagine LWB being 5.5 meters.

But it’s funny that you still have more space in the back of a V-Class.

Even the Maybach is only a 3 seater If you stretch your legs on the rear passenger seat.

I have the luxury seats in my V-Class and both passengers can stretch their legs easily.

There is a need for the E class to become a small S class, instead of a big C class. And really, the E class is growing more luxurious with every gen. Give it S class levels of interior quality and they're set, imo

That also seems to be the only way to keep these relic sedans revelant; true excellence with a ride quality not possible in a crossover or SUV.
They need to make the interiors of the saloons more special and stand out from the SUV's. The saloons can focus on extreme luxury and also sportiness (aka AMG), while the SUV's can move over to emphasis of space, practicality and off road lifestyle with an element of luxury built in.

I think the SWB S-class will eventually fade away. South Africa used to be a SWB market, but now Mercedes Benz SA are only selling LWB W223 models. Maybe the W224 will emulate the 7 series and only be sold in a 3.30m standard wheelbase and 5.40m length version with no SWB. I think they can leave the height at 1.50m, its high enough and then stretch the width to 1.98m would give it enough gravitas to match a Bentley Flying Spur and stair the 7-series in the face but keep it lower and sleeker. Its size would also be not far off the RR Ghost standard.

The W224 needs to move upmarket in its interior by a substantial amount. Mercedes needs to bring back chrome and leave out the silver aluminium colour trim surrounds.

The W224 LWB should be around 5.5M long, to further match the Ghost/7 Series sizing. 5.3M for SWB will be okay

It’s weird how Rolls-Royces are longer but tend to hide their size on pictures. You’d think a Ghost is around 5metres long until you see how HUGE it is in person🤔
But then how long will the Maybach end up being?
The Maybach will have to move to 5.7M. To pay homage to the Maybach 57 & also match it’s direct competitor, the Ghost EWB.

i feel like if they choose to go with the Vision Iconic’s styling it won’t look weird. Why? it has a high up front, a big dash to axle distance. if they incorporate that into a V8 4-door sedan at 5,5M long in a black colour ? it’s literally gonna look like a Batmobile, a literal spaceship✅

6m like the Rolls Royce.
That would be awesome for the Maybach.

Atleast someone gets it. The S-class should never be dwarfed by it’s competitors, it’s the King.

Interior should be timeless like the W222. They need to bring back the IWC somewhere by the dashboard & make it customizable. More chrome is indeed important it’s an S-class some wooden trims would also do. Think something like those Monaco yachts, Futuristic yet luxurious.

Something like this is what i’m talking about my good sir :

45 Recalls ( 21 of them in the USA as well).

Ford: Hold my beer 🍺

The increasing complexity of automotive electronics and the inevitable "bug susceptibility" of such will make recalls inevitable. This goes in tandem with the frequency and ferocity of class action lawsuits. And add the open, public lambasting of brands that have presented products with technical/mechanical flaws in the social media. Sure, recalls are a nuisance for owners/leasers. But alas, an inconvenient necessity nowadays. For owners/leasers and manufacturers alike.

Mercedes doesn't even produce the Pullman anymore. The S-Class is big enough.
Thing is if all the competitors are bigger, Some better than it even. Then it no longer leads, it’s no longer the King. Believe or not in the big limo game, size matters. The car needs to have an imposing stance, elegant design & the finest materials.

Why do you think people think the Rolls are way better ? The Size & Design plays a big role.

The G70 is getting a facelift. Let me tell you if that car gets a more handsome face & the Alpina version gets to be an LWB with a V12 ? i’m afraid to say it’ll be over for our beloved S-class.

Big and large isn’t always better, the inner qualities is what really matters to me. I don’t need or want a very large S class to feed my ego. Besides, in Europe it would be very impractical.
It’s a bit like the watches pictured above. The two watches at the bottom are by far my preferred choice.

The bigger it gets, the worse it’s going to drive. I think, the current S-Class already handles better than the 7 Series.

And with Rolls-Royce and Bentley, those are mostly cars for people who are being driven around in the back seat, not for people who actually want to drive themselves.

If the G70 LCI comes with exactly all of these i’ve listen, you’ll exactly what i’m talking about.

You need to understand that the Market has changed a little. People live to show-off these days, so they’re gonna need a car with presence.

The G70, Flying Spur & Rollers are all big and impractical. But people are managing worldwide with them aren’t they?

Get an E-class then. The S should be the same size as it’s competitors, it shouldn’t have an identity crisis between it & the E-class.
