What's with all the pointless design speculation.

We know where MB is heading, and it is apparently the new chief designers evolution of Sensual Purity.

Regardless of whatever we think on this forum, Mercedes has already said Gordon's hand extends into the next 10 years of design. 6 or 7 realisticly IMO.

Thanks for the info, Gordon designs until 2035 then. This proves the soft and fluid designs aren’t going anywhere yet. I’m assuming the big differences will be on the graphics side, while other areas remain pretty similar.

You can change the design until 3yrs pre launch, therefore it’s still possible to bin a lot of things from Gorden.

BTW in the German magazine ( manager magazine) there’s an interesting article about GW.

He behaved like someone who’s even bigger than good, living in California all the time, and only sometimes visiting Europe.

His biggest baby was the EQS, he’s still convinced about that car, although in the car clinic where pre production cars are showed people who must sign a NDA, no car in the history of Mercedes Benz had a worse feedback.
Nevertheless he was absolutely convinced that he’s right, and he told them you can’t ask people about a car they’re going to buy in 3 yrs.

That’s why he had to go.

Yikes. It’s funny cause I read something like this the other day.

Gonna age like milk, since the upcoming E-Class EV has a proper three-box design. 🤣

Jokes aside, he was clearly running out of ideas. That’s why the designs were getting repetitive and uninspiring.

It's actually the incoming chief designer that was responsible for the EQ series. He stated it's a shape too ahead of it's time.

Lord help us Mercedes guys. 🤣

Tbh though, I think they'll sort themselves out over the next 3 to 5 years.

He’s delusional. They were just ugly and he can’t admit it. If those cars had been concept car gorgeous and more reasonably priced Mercedes wouldn’t have been able to build enough of them. I have to believe that behind closed doors they all know those cars are just ugly.

Gorgeous in those pics. Those black ports for the sensors are a little annoying, but still they always nail the proportions and side profile of an S.

It’s a pity that an overall attractive product is brought down by just two main factors: an aesthetically jarring grille (that black border semi-surround is terrible) and display panel dominated dashboard. The headlights I’m in two minds about.

But for the rest of it, the silhouette, proportions and surfacing project an elegant stateliness that’s very much in keeping with the S-Class formula.
And, Mercedes - you really need to move on from the three-squircle frontal DRG already. It’s run its course. oOo

Yes without key less go as far as I know.
This is amazing. The a sense of keyless go makes the car less susceptible to getting stolen.

It’s crazy to think that in the prefacelift, the center console cubby was cheap scratch plastic regardless of trim chosen for the other inlays.
