W222 was the peak. It’s literally flawless. Current generation is also great and all, but just lacks something. And those 3 stars look tacky as hell.

The facelifted W222 was so much better than the prefacelift. The squarer headlights did a wonder at structuring the front end.

I think the larger headlights for the W223 Facelift will do the same for it. The S needs big headlights to provide an appropriate amount of mass to the front end.

Disagree: Mercedes has been doing this for quite some time, and it's annoying and outdated looking IMO. Large lenses with complex designs look bug-eyed, busy, and alien. Its like the designers don`t have the skills to come up with something sophisticated-looking in a slightly smaller package.

Little recap of some official information shared by MB with journalists who attended the car’s pre-preview :

• New V8 Engine: The new flat-plane crank V8, named the M177 EVO, will debut in the S580. Specifications are approximately 537 hp and 750 Nm. It features a mHEV BSG (Belt-driven Starter Generator) hybrid system—meaning no full-electric coasting—and is fully Euro 7 compliant.
• S580e PHEV Updates: The plug-in hybrid will also see improvements. The 3.0L engine increases from 367 hp to 449 hp, and the electric motor receives a boost of about 10 hp, bringing the total output to 585 hp.
• Engine Lineup: The S350d, S450d, S450, and S500 models are confirmed. Both diesel variants will be equipped with an electrically heated catalyst.
• Major Investment: The Mercedes CEO mentioned a significant investment for this facelift, with roughly 50% of the components redesigned (approximately 2,700 parts).
• Design Changes: Aesthetically, the front grille has grown in size, and—as previously noted—the front and rear light signatures will feature three-pointed stars.
• Software: The MB.OS has been overhauled to provide a more "intuitive and personal" experience.
• Suspension: While the hardware of the E-Active Body Control system remains the same, it can now receive data from other Mercedes vehicles via the cloud (Car-to-X), allowing it to adapt preemptively to road surface conditions.

Agree, Personally, not at all a fan of these taller, large lensed headlamp units on modern automobiles. And especially not on modern M-B vehicles. M-B design may have had their signature large, sometimes stacked headlamp unit heyday of yore. But now, this is IMHO little more than neo-retro gimmickry. M-B has been doing too much of this in general more recently. I like what BMW and Volvo/Polestar are doing in this particular context.

Could be. Though Verdesilber is already offered on the S-Class as standard. Samtbraun as well.
It was for MY2025 and later models if I’m not mistaken. These colors are also offered in ICE GLC family too.

The shape as well as the positioning of the grill/shield is actually quite alright. Low hoodline maintained. That's good IMHO.
