Should you be referring to, for example, W222-to-W223, W213-to-W214 and W205-to-W206, I can only agree. IMHO, that would appear obvious.

This is a utopian expectation given current market conditions. Every company uses the same cockpit in its compact model series.

Not every brand does that. BMW uses the same one on the X1/X2 while 1/2 Series have completely different ones. Same story with the Audi as well, A3 differs from the Q2/Q3. Mercedes uses the exact same interior on so many models with just different trim pieces and slightly tweaked designs, while other manufacturers do a completely new one for regular models and their SUV counterparts.

That’s basically 5 different cars with the same exact interior. Do your homework instead of trying to justify everything Mercedes related, sigh.

Facelifts are usually limited to changing headlight graphics and bumpers. Mercedes, on the other hand, has designed a completely new headlight. What did you expect?

Smaller than I imagined actually, due to the black surrounding I guess. It would be nice if there were 3 stars to further differentiate S-Class from the E, since C Facelift appears to have a single star. Just like the 2017-2018 era.

It’s also annoying to see manufacturers use the same steering wheel design on every single model, from cheapest to the most expensive. It would be really nice if they added completely new steering wheels just for flagship models. Mercedes did this with the pre-facelift S-Class with its ‘clown face’ steering wheel, which I found to be pretty cool. Now all of them use the same one. Same story with other Germans as well. I mean how expensive could it be to create something different?

The vents and screens in the shared cabins are identical. If you look closely, their placements differ. The X1 and 2-series active tourer have exactly the same console?

In BMW, the 1/2 series coupe is the same, X1/X2/2 series AC is the same,

Mercedes A/CLA is the same, GLA/B series is the same, but the GLB is different from all of them.

Apparently, the cabins have been differentiated with design tricks similar to BMW. BMW did this with ventilation slots, while Mercedes modified the structure of the upper console compartment and decorative strip. In fact, while BMW offers two different cabin solutions here, Mercedes has added a third option with the GLB!

I mean yes? That's what they always do with facelifts and this one seems actually quite generous for a facelift with new grille and new lights. We've seen facelifts with way less difference.

Also, I have to say this pic here looks great. If the surround is body colored we're good to go.

This looks quite modern and tasteful. I like it. But for the W224, I believe the S-Class needs more drama. Don't make it a boat like the G70 7er or the W240 back in the day. But make the front end more distinct, the proportions more dramatic, the rims more unique, etc.

“Different from them all” and it’s just the tiniest trim piece difference There’s literally nothing that sets them apart visually. Someone can post a picture or a story on their socials and I literally wouldn’t be able to tell which model it is. You’re just trying so hard to justify every single thing related to your favorite, and when it gets called out you immediately start inserting other brands to the conversation to further prove your point. Fanboy stuff to the extreme, lol.
Sometimes it’s just better to accept things and move on, you know? Many brands do this type of cost-cutting stuff with their cars, and Mercedes just overdone it. Not to mention those entry-level Merc’s have the worst quality imaginable!!!

Don't bother, this is low-value conversation. It's no different than Mercedes cost-cutting via not making the GLE and GLS dashboards different, which was bashed by the very same people on this forum that celebrated the X7's arrival when it had the same dashboard as...gasp...the X5.

Both brands doing it doesn't make it great, but it's just silly discourse when posters act like it's a unique situation. In any event, what can't be denied is several bad decisions have left Mercedes in a rut that's going to take time to resolve. The return of volume positioning for some models, competitive and more conventionally styled EV models, better ICE powertrains, and the release of delayed refreshes will improve on the current state.

Already told that they use the same interior on the X1/2. 2 Series AC is the only one I literally forgot about. Other than that I already mentioned them all.
Plus, none of the other Germans overdone the same interior style as much as Mercedes, and that’s not even an opinion, just a fact.

It's hard to understand these people. BMW even used similar interiors in the 5 and 7 series. I'm sure non-car enthusiasts would have a hard time telling them apart. The G11 and G30 were very similar. In fact, the F10 and F01 shared the exact same interior. Isn't this even more tragic than the fact that entry-level cars are identical? These cars were produced in a time when cost wasn't a primary concern.

Literally can’t think of anyone that ‘celebrated’ X7’s interior for being the same as X5. Doesn’t matter which brand it is, using the same design over and over again, especially on high-end models is lazy. If people are willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on cars, they better make it worthy of that.
And these are not “unique situations” where it gets called out just for the sake of criticizing. Mercedes’ tendency to over-use the same design themes on both exterior and interior has been talked about many times on this forum. So It’s pretty much the truth rather than personal opinions.

It's not really though. BMW has at various points had the same "interior style" all the way through it's lineup. And you're going to see it again when the panoramic idrive system sets the tone for future debuts. I've willingly bought multiple BMWs and noticed it, and didn't complain about it either. It was familiar.

You'd be hard pressed to tell which one is the 7-series and which one is the 5-series at first glance.

3-series vs. X5. These all seem to be of the same interior style. Who cares? With the dizzying amount of models these brands have for sale, you're going to see the style a lot. I don't think this is a uniquely MB thing at all.
