Imagine that on black. The Chrome would look awesome. I really like that. Hopefully the front looks just as nice... The bumper looks a tad ordinary in the spyshots... I was going to say a chrome strip would look nice but then again maybe the car would have to much chrome and look abit to American. I dunoo...

GTA... Don't get me wrong, i still think it is a huge mistake. It should have been left the way it is.-
I don't think it is a mistake at all. Those body-coloured strips were already starting to date (which is probably why Mercedes has not used them on any other vehicles). By the time the W221 comes to the end of its production life, they would look very old. Changing them now is good timing.

Those body colored strips have been stupid and ugly since the very first day!
I never thought they looked stupid, but they did always seem very un-Benz like.

GBOY: why do you think there will be any chrome on the lights?

After making the chop, I like the new version better than the BODY COLORED ones which tend to obscure the tail lights from a distance.

I believe there will be chrome strips just from a designer's point of view... the lights will be one huge blob of red without them, plus there will be no design continuity (evolution - if you will). Based on the fact that the GL has those chrome strips already in use, the most logical progression IMO, is the result you see in the chop.

Re: Spy pics from GlobalMotors.net

I like the new side mirrors but the double fog light are pure crap.

I prefer the current wing mirrors. The new ones don't suit the soft lines of the car.

I can't imagine Mercedes would really do something as goofy as twin fog lights.

Same for me. Unbelievable. But it's quasi official that the W212 E-Class will have twin fogs in Elegance trim...:eusa_doh: Ugly.

Hopefully MB will make revisions after they see the sales for the elegance trim plummet by 35%.

Design wise, I would say this is only a very minor facelift. This new car still looks much older and fatter than the F01. Good.

And now we can see there will be no chrome in the rear lights. Just the red with two white stripes to replace the body colored strips...I like Gboy's PS better than the real thing. Looks very plain.

OK ...somebody please explain to me what is so repellent about twin fogs?

For one do we really know if these double fogs are official or not, on either the S or the E-Class? I just can't believe that they are at this point. Even if they are real, isn't the inboard one for some sort of technical reason? I can't see Mercedes have 2 fogs running at the same time on each side of the car, it would be beyond tacky.

According to JESMB.de, usually very well informed, the W212 will have either one oval fog, or two round fogs (one fog, the other either for daytime light or for the camera, surely for lane-warning or infrared), or the LEDs stripe.

Meaning that it's maybe not trim-depending, but Classic with one oval, Elegance and AVG with LEDs, and twins only if the camera is needed so if you choose the lane-waring, or maybe the infrared camera.

And what I don't understand: if it is possible to have only the LEDs... it means in that case that the car has no fogs? Because the LEDs won't be used as fogs! So when fogs, different headlamps with integrated fogs?:t-hands:

However, looks ugly in twins... Brabus wannabe, aftermarket look.

Fogs in MB's of the past like the previous S were integrated into the main headlight housing, so that is I am sure one possibility.

Perhaps the double fogs are an addition to the "Intelligent Light System"? :t-hands:

I really hope they don´t put to this car the same UGLY steering wheels that actually have all the recent MBs.
