S-Class (W222) Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a sales hit, more than 100,000 units delivered in a year

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
World premiere for the S 600 Maybach - in November at the same time in Guangzhou and Los Angeles

The S-Class with an extra long wheelbase (Maybach 57 heritage) of type X222 will celebrate its world premier at the same time in November in China and the USA. The model is available both at the LA Auto Show and at the Auto Show in Guangzhou, China.

X222: World Premiere in November

The S-Class is currently presented as the short wheelbase (W 222), the long wheelbase (V 222), as well as a 2-door coupe (C 217, S-Class Coupe). The new model, which will celebrate the world premiere in the fall in China and the USA almost simultaneously, represents the sedan with extra long wheelbase: the X222 series. The press day of the LA Auto Show starts on 18 November 2014 and in Guangzhou on 20th November 2014. The additional model will be called "Maybach" in the model designation and is thus the indirect successor to the Maybach 57. The VV 222, the state limousine with 3 rows of seats (600 Pullman) follows at a later date, as well as the two-door convertible (A 217).

Wheelbase of about 3415 mm: the S-Class Maybach

Unlike the V222, the S-Class with 3165 mm wheelbase, the X222 will probably have a wheelbase of 3415 mm while the front and rear overhang of 888 mm or 1193 mm remain the same. With these measurements the model clearly differs compared to previous versions of the S-Class. Although the S 600 Maybach cockpit may be similar, the limousine will accommodate two passengers in the rear on individual seats, and Mercedes-Benz is rumored to use here nobler materials for an even higher quality interior. The sales release for the X222 model we expect to coincide with the world premiere in November, while the market introduction at the dealerships is expected in February 2015.

And that's supposed to look different from the S Class, well according to you post in the other topic it is, Mercedes are having a laugh.

Considering LA Auto Show is just few days to begin, isn't it time to have some official press release on the S Maybach? Anyway WCF have some latest release. Meanwhile when I was talking a senior executive of MB India who has already seen the car said it fabulous and when I asked about the exterior trim level, he had a smile on his face and said it's worth wait.

Slated to debut in Los Angeles
New details are starting to emerge about the S-Class Maybach, ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Set to slot above the S600, the S-Class Maybach will feature a familiar design but will be approximately 10 inches longer than the long-wheelbase model. The extra room will be devoted to rear seat passengers and the extra length will be easily noticed thanks to longer rear doors and a revised C-pillar.

The styling changes will continue in the cabin as Autoweek is reporting the car will feature exclusive technology, reclining rear seats and "enhanced infotainment features for rear seat passengers." We can also expect a greater range of trim and upholstery choices to appeal to discerning customers.

Power will be provided by a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that develops 530 PS (390 kW) and 830 Nm (612 lb-ft) of torque. There could also be a high-performance variant which uses the S65 AMG's twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that develops 630 PS (463 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.

The entry-level model is expected to cost approximately $200,000 and it could eventually be joined by an armored version that offers VR9-level ballistic protection.
