S-Class W222 Mercedes-Benz S 600 (V222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
^ Interesting. Not sure where they get their info? The MBUSA parts catalog indicates the M277 E60 may be a 6.0 liter V12 BiTurbo. Maybe it has 585 PS? :)

Mercedes GLA 45 AMG & S600 Maybach to debut in Detroit

The 2014 Mercedes C-Class will be one of the key attractions at the North American International Auto Show and a new report is indicating it will be joined by the GLA45 AMG and the S600 Maybach.

The GLA 45 AMG was recently previewed by a concept at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and is slated to have sporty styling, high-performance brakes and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. The engine will be connected to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission and an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds.

The S600 Maybach, on the other hand, will reportedly be an extra-long wheelbase model that measures approximately 5.5 meters (18 feet) long. The model is also slated to have a 2+2 seating arrangement and a 5.5-liter V12 engine that develops 585 HP (430 kW).

^ The S 600 LWB (V222) is expected in Detroit, not the S 600 XLWB (X222), whose premiere is expected in late 2014 or early 2015. :)

All we need is the S600 and the XL version, no need to revive the dead weight Maybach name.

Wolfe, where is the car??

Horribly disproportional. The whole shape is messed up.

I will reserve final judgement for when the camo comes off. That said from what we can see the car looks like a stretched aftermarket job by a limo company in LA.
Not in the least a "look at me, I deserve respect" look at all.

Hope this pics are from brochure. Some how I expected the same wheels on S600 in brochure!

So sad to see MB give up on the V12s. They seem to have put a detuned version of the old V12 AMG on the S600, with larger displacement and little more PS (530).

MB seems to have listed the wrong transmission for the S 65 AMG in the specs above. Expected the AMG Speedshift 7G-TRONIC Plus? The specs only show the S 600 in LWB, and not in SWB as previous rumors indicated. Thus for now there might only be the LWB. The SWB still might show up lateron or was cancelled? Fuel consumption dropped a lot, from 14.2 l/km with the M275 to only 11.3 l/km with the new M277 now, while adhering to even stricter EU6 instead of EU5. That's about as much as the 2011 S550 used. A "V12 diesel"? :)

I understand your disappointment, but is there a need for a brand new V12? It can still produce the numbers, and there hasn't been much complain about the refinement of the engine.
