The Mercedes-Benz R230, introduced in 2001, continues the evolution of R129 with smoother body design and new peanut-shaped headlamp design. The fifth-generation SL-Class featured a 'Vario Roof' retractable hardtop. Production: 2001-2011.

Hmmm... the 65 may be quicker, but the 55 definitely sounds much better.

Clarkson replaced the SL 55 with a Ford GT which turned out to be an unmitigated disaster; Clarkson got rid of the Ford and bought a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

He also owns an SLK 55 AMG.

Ye. The fl is really starting to grow on me. Like it. The old one was nice but was really starting to look a bit cheesy, esp that tiny grill. I think you can only go so far with that double round lights look. Was time to move on.
