yeah man..everything is done very nicely..
nothing seems out of order
im lovin this to much..for my own good:D

This car is awesome.

What do you think makes the 300SL so special ...I mean this car is over half a century old and it is still a dream car for millions of fans of all ages.

I wonder if I can find a company who can make me a kit car of the SL. I know you can get the AC chassis and build your own cobra but I wonder if someone could make this?

Look at that interior...I want to drive in a 300 SL...especially this safety steering column and the steering wheel with an airbag... :t-hands:
Nevertheless HWA did a great job... :usa7uh:

Very simple, perfect paradox between pure function and pure beauty.
Perhaps the greatest accident ever.

Scheib is a company that builds replicas, some of their models are available as kits but it seems their Gullwing is not.

It's based on an SLK.

It has an automatic transmission, what kind of crap is that!

Two modifications I would make to a 300SL are
A/C, but only if it could be installed and removed without any changes. I do live in a desert.
and maybe a updated radio, maybe.

Hong Kong seems to have a disturbing enthusiasm for rebuilding old Mercedes with new AMG parts. Maybe it has something to do with its booming stock market. Remember the 600 landaulet that had a 7.3 AMG engine stuck in it?

The first 300SL with AMG rims was the Sultan of Brunei's car. I'm not saying that this HWA example is bad, but I prefer the original car much more. I like the 1950s interior with plaid seats and I'll take the Rudge wheels over the AMGs.

I'm sorry but I don't really like this concept of upgrading old cars!

I like it when they upgrade the brakes, and safety features, but without changine the design of the car, that is good. But when they change things like the rims and steering wheel to horrid modern stuff, that isn't too good!

I agree. If I lived in the UK, I would buy a Ford Cortina Mark IV 2300 GL and put on new brakes and replace the transmission. I would absolutely not touch the exterior or interior. Unfortunately, I don't live in the UK.

You'd probably be lucky to find one, apart from the ones people have restored, all the others have probably rusted away!

I always check ebay for old Cortinas. There are too really nice ones for sale right now. The Mk IV and Cortina 80 are the second rarest cars in the U.K. today. Over a million were sold between '76 and '82, but 2,100 remain. They have either rusted away or met their death as banger cars!
