Made from 2002 to 2009 in sedan/saloon (W211) and station wagon/estate (S211) configurations – replacing the W210 E-Class models and superseded by the Mercedes-Benz W212 in 2009. Production: January 2002 – April 2009 (sedan), February 2002 – June 2009 (station wagon).

Exaclty and I was just thinking that Huckfledt (where ever he gets his info. from) might have seen the facelift E class and thought it was the W212
I don't think so. It's more likely that this is a new design element for future mercedes models starting with the E-class facelift. If I can recall correctly, his CLK impressions had similar a bumper design.

Hmmm, I guess Mercedes is taking a page from BMW with the front bumpers ala the 3 series. It looks good none the less.

could be

I just thought maybe because Huckfledt did something similar with the CLS and S class PS's. He made the CLS look like the new S class from the front end (or vice versa, cant rememba) but then later changed the photoshops the way they should have been...

Oh that S-class dilema :D
It wasn't clear with the S-class and how it would look like. There were two different prototypes testing around. One of them was the real S-class prototype (ehich was presented in the media and in the forums as the CLS prototype) and the Maybach 53 prototype (presented by the media and in the forums as the S-class protoype). It wasn't so clear for the media because at that time nobody knew what Mercedes meant by a "4-door-coupe" and even after Mercedes presented the Vision CLS at the IAA in 2003 people thought it was just an over styled concept.

THose new mirrors are weird, hope it's only there to fool around...~
I have a feeling that the pic on the previous page is of a new sports package? or for the Advantgade model only? I don't particularly like those bumpers, it's just not smooth and it's a factor that screws the E90 3series front end up... E90 looks good, but could have been much better, and i'm sure its facelift will concentrate at that part..

It's now 2006, just over 3 years until the next generation Eclass comes... so far the next generation Eclass PSs looks stunning, it looks like an S class compared to the current model...!

I'm really excited to see the AMG version of the facelifted E. Should be interesting with the new bumper design

Do you think MB will use the one used on the new S65 or a new one similar to the S65's?

if you ask me i think they will go for the rounded version like on the CLS performance pack.. and not the totally square version of the S65

thing is for example the S65, it's not so 'roundy' like the W211, this is afterall an older design so it'll look pretty weird to put those S65 package on...

Another PS. Thanks to Rudlof for the scan. I dont think it will look like this though or will it?

I believe the bulge bumper is based on one of the earlier spyshots. The side mirror is not different from the spyshots though. Can't wait to see the final product.

These last pictures posted by Just_me made me wonder whether the facelifted E-class will get different kind of bumpers depending on their specification/package like the current E-class does.

"Avantgarde" package

"Elegance" package

"Classic" package
Bumper is same as Elegance but without the chrome strips.

I agree, the rear light is terrible. But I think there is still some tape on it. Overall, the facelift makes the E looks like an American car(more agressive). On further observation, the E with 5 spoke rims seem to be ps while the one with multi-spoke rim seems real.

damn man they ruined the car.. im pretty upset.. i hope it will look better when its unvieled.. cause this is wierd..
