***Mercedes-Benz Dealership Pics in HDR***

Piston Pioneer
Some random pictures from the local Mercedes-Benz dealership in HDR. I wanted to take more shots but it was -7 degrees C and my fingers were freezing after a few minutes. As usual, if you want a particular shot in high-res format, let me know. All pictures taken in 1504 x 1000 format @ normal quality.

Enjoy! :t-cheers:

B-Class

Some random shots...

New W204 C-Class 'Elegance'

New W204 C-Class with "AMG Appearance/Sport Package"

W221 S-Class with "AMG Appearance Package". In the second shot you can see my reflection and the tripod...

Random shot...

CL500: Gorgeous!

Hope you liked the shots. :t-cheers:

Re: ***Mercedes-Benz Dealership Shots in HDR***

Wonderful photos Christian ! You have managed to make the B-class look almost attractive in the 1st photo. I can't believe the dealership just leave expensive cars like the S-class and the CL out in the freezing cold like this.

Re: ***Mercedes-Benz Dealership Shots in HDR***

Very nice wimmer...BUT..:D

The lack of contrast is the direct result of the HDR process here. The images are flat and lack tonal contrast. When you apply the HDR process to a flat scene you are defeating the purpose of the process (in my opinion.)

Take one of the images from the HDR sequence and use only the 0 or normal exposure shot and process that image as you normally do using RAW (if shot in RAW.) I think the result will be far superior to the images above. The cars are the subject and should "pop" out of the scene, not be dissolved into grays with the backgrounds. HDR is not a every-shot solution and should be used when there is a high dynamic range scene that requires a compression of the scene so it can be viewed on monitors and in print.

This is just my opinion and is offered as a discussion topic, not criticism...:)

Thanks guys. :)

Info and input appreciated, Jack. :t-cheers:

What I like about these images is the color range. I guess you could call this the Christian Wimmer HDR Style. :t-cheers:

Here are some more shots! Taken today!

These first two are for you, Jack. :D

Re: ***Mercedes-Benz Dealership Shots in HDR***

These are a lot better wimmer. More color saturation and contrast. Watch for the "halo" effect in your PP corrections. I would prefer to see more contrast in the scenes but that is my opinion. I don't see a true white in the images anywhere, even the snow on the E200 is gray.

Remember HD in HDR stands for High Dynamic, not high definition. The programs are designed to reduce contrast (compress the image levels) so when you use it on a low contrast scene, the HDR process magnifies the compression and produces a flat, low contrast image. The attached below is a HDR and deals with a very high contrast scene yet the compression has allowed us to view the detail in the building, sky and landscape with snow.

I guess as "artists" we have a different interpretation of what the image should appear like...:-))))) I am trying to offer constructive criticism...in my mind these images would be a 10 on a scale of 10 if shot on a sunny day and had a complete range of contrast from black to white.

I value your input. Nice photo! :usa7uh:

But like you said, it depends on the artist behind the lens. I prefer my HDR shots to be like this. It's my style I guess you could say. And someone once told me that when it comes to art, there is no right and wrong. It's all good. :t-cheers:
