Great photos Artist! thats awesome..., just awesome! The CL63 has a sort of majesty about it`s sporty yet elegant flavor. To me the presence of this design has more power than the Bentley CGT.

Btw very nice avtar Merc1.. Thats killer MB indeed! very classy!

NO NO NO!! :D If the Audi A5 dosen't look better I'll have a problem.. and I know there will be a close race!! very very close.. cause the <<<AMG CL is just so beautiful and brutal that it is the best looking Merc of all times.. ! :icondrool :usa7uh:

CL 600 with AMG package and brabus rimms..
it looks off the chain:D

^^ Awesome

The new CL is one of most beautiful designs in a long time (IMO)

It´s really quite amazing how the very elements of exterior design that make the W221 S-Class a questionable exercise in automotive styling look so absolutely right on the C216 CL.

I imagine that MBs´ extravagant styling language works better on an aggressively sporting coupe configuration than on a more conservative large luxury sedan.

In some aspects of its´ exterior design, the W221 S-Class looks as though it was the work of a number of designers who were not communicating with each other. Especially the cars´ rear-end treatment (the plateau-like trunklid, the ellipsical-shaped rear wheel flares) appears convoluted. Mind you, the cars proportions are just fine. It´s in the details where the devil dwells...

But the CL can be afforded more drama, more flamboyance. Yet still retain an elegance that is so essential for a large coupe. More cylindrical rear wheel flares and not plateauing the trunklid ensure that elegance. A wonderful car.

All simply my take.

Welcome to GCF. :t-cheers:

Excellent post, I get what you mean exactly. The S-Class would perhaps have looked better with more conservative design elements.

Its the wheel arches on the S that gives it that not quite balanced look to some. On the coupe the wheel arches don't have to compete with the rear doors and they tie in better with the new hood design better too. I suspect MB will get the arches down pat with the new C though, they won't be as big and better intergrated.
