This forum have lost some of the magic. Back in the days this poll would have exist the moment C63 been released.

Agreed, a lot of magic and plain fun is all but gone.

Anyway I`m going to go for the M3 this time. There are some thing that I do not like about it though...
The front spoiler is butt overdone, (the upper fins remind me of turned out lips.) the rear area around the taillights is rather dull looking. Other than that it has a level of external excitement the C63 is sadly lacking in. Mercedes-AMG seems to have a pattern going on with it`s AMG line. Thay seem kind of dull on debut. Come face/lift time is when the corks pop off the wine bottles. Much more aggressive packages with power boosts exc, exc. Looks like we will have to wait for that time. Interiors for both cars are ok. Again, I think I will go for the M3 here. The C63 is a touch more upscale with its aluminum switch-gear and some "hand of craft" shapes to the design. The overall impression is not that great imo. The M3 will age a little faster... industrial shapes from numerous past BMWs, plastic ac vents and button-happy switch-gear ( A constant rehashing and milking.) BMW seriously needs to break that method and come up with something unique. The interior of the M3 is pretty decent for a modern sports sedan though and is why it gets my vote.
The M3 should do better on paper to... lighter weight, faster tranny, exc. M3 please.

That is not what you said when the F10 M5 came out!
Each lead-in M model signifies the next stage in progress. They did not have the resources they have now that will implemented within and outside the G80.

I will be getting one of these two cars next year so this poll is very relevant to me. I don't know which one I will choose yet, mainly because I haven't driven the new C63. I prefer the looks and interior of the M3 but I prefer the Merc's V8. I was very impressed with the driving dynamics of the M3, so the C63 will have a lot to live up to. By next year there may be a more powerful version of the M3 to compete with the C63 S.

Ultimately, I wouldn't mind either of these cars but if I was forced to choose right now based on looks and specs and already knowing how well the M3 drives then I would pick the M3 over the base C63. I reserve the right to change my mind after the C63 and C63 S test drives though...

PS. I forgot to mention, I am hiring a Merc W205 for December and January in South Africa to get a feel for the car with luggage, parking and comfort levels for the whole family before I consider a C63. I probably take these car buying decisions a little too seriously :D

Both cars in whitish. And someone needs to remind Mercedes that powerful sedans need some freaking hips.

As it stands, I find even a C400 looks more interesting than a C63. But it is probably those nice wheels.

Considering that the aggressive styling been masterfully done already with the previous C63,clearly MB is aiming towards a different crowd this time. The C63 is not trying to beat the M3 anymore,it's simply something different.
The new C is more mature and luxurious than ever and it's top model has to fall in line.

The M3 is clearly a bigger upgrade visually when compared to the base 3. A nicely spec'ed C400 looks as good as a C63 now. M3 it is.

I like C63's front. It's well resolved. The rest looks like a standard C with AMG pack. I myself dislike the sedan's body.
The T model on the other hand looks way better overall... IMO.
I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the V8 in comparison to the I6 especially since they are both forced now.
The interior of the standard C-Class is really classy and a class above the 3-Series's but unfortunately CF and racey
touches doesn't suit such a luxury oriented and organic interior IMO. The more teutonic and techno looking interior goes better with the CF trims in the M3 thus winning the 3-Series its first point in this category.
Even tho these NM figures are quite tempting one should not forget that the C63 is still a whale.
Will the engine be enough reason to pick the C63 over a brutally brilliant looking, light M3?
Maybe the T-Model is the one to go with this time around. It's quite unique too since there's no M3 Touring and the new RS4 is still to come. I'd love to read the first reviews and am even more temped to see the first comparos between this two.
In the meantime - M3 for me.

Tarek, what a nice surprise!

From what we know today (looks, both really good looking, inside out, and that the BMW is supposed to be one of the best driving BMW:s ever) I have to give the M3 the nod. For now.

C63 for me.the M3 with four doors never looks right in my eyes and I did see the car IRL.The profile looks too compact while the busy bumper design makes the body look too heavy. But the M4 don't have the problem I wouldn't mind one.
