MB Classic: The Mercedes-Benz Strich-8's

Here's a little something from this months Mercedes Classic magazine. It's a nostalgic comparison between the infamous Strich-8 models. Strich 8? But what the hell are the Pagoda W113 SL and W108 S-Class doing here then? The -8's were W114/W115 E-Classes, right? Wrong. Mercedes' also used the -8 for other models, apparently.

Wow. this is waking some memories
The W115 was the rerason I became an MB-fan!
May father had one of these, a 1976 230.4 in red/orange. he bought it brand new from Germany and drove it then all the way back to Baghdad! We had the car till we left the country in 1993, so i basically grew up in that car.
The 230.4 was my definition if what a car is.
It was tragic day when we had to sell it

guys i have not shared this before but in 1976 i was born in a car yes the same round light 280se it was a orange car ,,,i was born in the car as my parents were rushing me to the hospital in those days due to apartheid in our country we could not go to certain hospitals so they had to travel far ...


well i look for that paticular car but i can not find one i want one to restore and keep for myself


actually it wasnot orange it was like a rust red or something

What an honor it must be to have been born inside a Mercedes-Benz. I know I was nearly born inside a Mitsubishi Galant when my mother drove herself to the hospital a few hours before I came out! Given the choice, I would prefer being born in a Benz.

And 1976? You're still young!
