Get out of here! I was thinking the most optimal engine would be an I6 turbo. I know this is a concept, and as of now, there's no public revelation that this will be made, but it makes me optimisitic that Mazda is seriously considering making this.

I see alot of AM Rapide/Lagonda Taraf in the design. I also see quite a bit of the BMW Concept CS in this. I'd love to see this or at least many of its design details in something that's production-ready. The only downside though is that Mazda doesn't have a gas engine bigger than the 2.5L turbo, which means either pure electric (which isn't something Mazda does not seem to have keen interest at the present) or a hybrid that pairs either its 4cyl turbo or Wankel rotary to batteries. If they do move forward, I am curious what their approach will be.

I also see shades of Lamborghini's Estoque 4dr Concept.

In Norway they sell an AWD Tdi wagon at just over 500,000 nok for the top spec optimum model it’s a bargain. I’d have it over the equivalent 3 series, C class and A4 AWD 2.0 TDi wagons.

We don't get the wagon in these here States. Friggin' CUV craze.

Honestly, if Honda, Mazda or Subaru made an honest-to-goodness turbo-4 or turbo-6 wagon with AWD with respectable handling, I would have that as my daily driver and get a Porsche, and call it a day on an ideal garage.

With so many features now available in more mainstream brands, I really don't see the appeal in getting a luxury only to see the resale value plummet after 3 years. Of course the ride quality is better, but many of these brand's midsized cars have 85-90% of the ride quality. In my mind, it's hard to justify double the price for what I would consider a negligible improvement. The only reasons I can see getting a luxury if I constantly have to entertain clients (real estate agent, etc.) or I have a ridiculous commute where I spend a good chunk of my life on the road.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the luxury makes, but it doesn't hold the same vaunted appeal they had 10+ years ago. I can look at a sports car like a Porsche and say that it doesn't provide the same set of capabilities as something half its price. I look at an E-Class or a 5er and think I could do the same thing I need to do in a Honda Accord or Mazda6.

It feels good getting that off my chest. I've been meaning to say that for awhile now.

In fact, there are many cars that are coming out that I want to be excited about am not, or was excited about that haven't sustained the excitement for long. For example, the new M5, E63, S63 and really any big saloon/sedan with the brand's tuner-house engine. I just no longer see the appeal of having that much power in a behemoth. That much power in something more compact, sure. But I'd rather cruise in something that large. A S560 or 740i would be more than enough for that.

Maybe this is all a product of getting old, but I think that damn Urus was the tipping point for me.

I’m very much in agreement with you, I’ve been trying to decide what to do with my Audi’s, I really don’t feel like spending 1m plus NOK to replace both of them with similar vehicles next year, I’ve gotten bored with it all. The Germans charge ridiculous amounts of money for features which should be standard and for what the vast majority of people do in cars they don’t ride or handle any better either, you really only see he handling benefits at high speed which is not what most drivers do.

The Audi sales guys I’ve bought 4 cars from has moved to Mazda, he would like to sell me a new 6, I had a drive in a loaded 6 AWD wagon on yesterday, for the money it’s more than good enough, next year when the facelift arrives the interior takes a huge step up in quality, the only major omission is apple play and android auto are missing.

Just to clear things up... it was Mercedes who copied Mazda. This is the Mazda CX-9, which launched in late 2015. The massive grille, and more importantly, the lower section with the wide chrome strip... complete copy by Mercedes. You're welcome.

I know it’s dumb, they sell them all over the world except Europe, apparently Mazda thinks they are to big, and of course no diesel, the sky active 2.2D should easily fit, the sky active platform is supposed to take all the sky active engines. I think it would sell well.
