Maybach and the Mercedes V12 engine will live on.

According to Georg Kacher's article in the latest issue of CAR. We will see a new range of Maybachs. There will be the usual limosine models, a 4-door coupe (The Ocean Drive Concept), and a coupe inspired by the Excelero concept. The second generation of Maybachs will look better (let's all hope so).

The 36-valve V12 engine will get a new lease of life with its capacity bumped up to 6.0L. The engine output will vary depending on the model. The engines will be mated to the 7-speed transmission initially and Kacher added the 9-speed transmission will follow later to enable plug-in hybrid to be fitted.

Long live the Mercedes V12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These engines might find way to future Aston Martin and Lagonda models

Probably not, the article said the talks between Mercedes and Aston Martin ended without any agreements. The talks ended many months ago.

In a separate article, the N/A 6.3-litre AMG V8 will not be totally replaced by the new 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8. Certain AMG models will continue to use the N/A 6.3 engine.

Also, future Jaguars might be driven by BMW engines, transmissions, and hybrid powertrains.

Oh, that's not good news. I was counting on Mercedes-reliable Astons. Heard about BMW supplying engines to Jaguar too, and that's a good thing.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
