May Update II : The Ultimate Dream Machine : BMW Z Spyder Stradale

Somebody has taken the first step in creating an appearance of the "Z" Spyder Stradale. Some cues are retained from the original California Spyder but the artist is another who imagines how a BMW designer thinks in reforming and reinterpreting design cues , John Sibal is another such artist that applies his work in a direction a BMW designer may think.

Of course it is not official as the car is still being worked on , But I certainly like how the artist is thinking in applying new ideas to old concepts. The wheels are interesting enough because such "twisted" spokes are coming to the 1er and 3er stylish , yes but more aerodynamic that will help aid the car in it's drive for further efficiency..

The folding hard top is confirmed for sure?. I think it would be a good selling point as both the SLS and the R8 have soft top.

Ignore the renderings , as they car still has to have it's skin put on , but it shows somebody is having fun and letting their imagination run riot not in the right direction , though.

Coming in the mid-June Update. "We Will Build this Car!"

So SCOTT, correct me if I´m wrong, this Z9 would fight the sucesor of both R8 and SLS. As the R8 was introduced in 2007, 2014 would be the time for its replacement, and 2016 for the SLS.

I have no definite timeline of the Audi or Mercedes.
But this car will be BMW's interpretation of a halo Car and as of now the Project-i Mega City family is the priority because Spyder Stradale cannot come to life until BMW has begun mass production of Carbon Fibre components in order to make it cost effective for the range topping Roadster which will use a lot of the material in it's construction.

The car remains true to the CEO's dream , an exotic top end Roadster with a folding hard top which remains true to BMW's core values.
Even Chris Bangle who still frequents the design studio's of BMW has ventured his opinion as he was there when the original concept was conceived.

Fail to see how convertible with a folding hard top is going to compete dynamically with the likes of R8/SLS. Sounds more like a luxury California/SL competitor.

Maybe because of the carbon fiber?.

It will not compete with the likes of the R8 and the SLS. Cabrio only and hybrid makes is irrelevant in the comparison.

It seems there are going to be two cars: Z10 and ZED (Z Efficient Dynamics, production version of Vision Efficient Dynamics).

Wow!! A roadster/cabrio designed as one from the beginning can be just as good as the best coupé. And we know nothing about this hybrid tech or how well it performs, so your reply makes no sense.

It will follow the conventions of BMW not other manufacturer's.
The car is basically a top line replacement for the Z8 - A truly emotive concept that concentrates all BMW's best known attributes.

The Vision Efficient Dynamics will remain as the same as the concept, meaning it will gnerate it's 400 horse Power from it's Hybrid drivetrain meaning electric power with back up three cylinder diesel.
There wont be a V8 and there wont be an M, it will be marketed as a BMW.
Having seen the Vision Efficient Dynamics on the track this past week it is very quick , but in order to make the concept more "Acceptable" for production there is some adjustments being made.

You will see it on the track soon as it was filmed for BMW.TV.DE...

So, in the end, two "supercars" comming from BMW, the VED and the Z9.

I'm only wondering if it will still be a 2+2 seater? That's pretty important, IMO.

Best regards,

Supercar might be too strong of a word. Sports car seems a more appropriate term I think. :)

Great to see more sporty-orientated vehicles in the pipelines. The the recent flow of lifestyle vehicles have been interesting and they sure have their place in the BMW line-up, but none bring with them the excitement that the VED production version and Z Spyder Stradale bring!

You sure there won't be any issue with people calling the Z Spyder Stradale simply the BMW Z SS ? :eusa_thin
