Matt, I completely understand what you're talking about. The C pillar narrows as it reaches the trunkline and is integrated in an unusual manner. Both of there factors lead to the car having an awkward appearance. It just makes the car look weak from behind.

Exactly, the car appears like it lacks a rigid shell. Its like a convertable hard top except its actually just a coupe. It was a mistake to follow the door line across the c piller. If you watched the Top Gear episode where they take this car on the track, it does terrible because it actually isnt rigid and the body roll is horrendous (spelling?).

Unfortunately, it looks like the next CL will get the same design! :t-banghea

I don't get what you all are talking about here at all. The C-pillar treatment is what give the CL its look. Body rigidity and bodyroll aren't directly related like that either. There is no way to tell how rigid the car is by looking at it go around a track. The CL isn't a track car to begin with, doesn't mean it isn't rigid. Yes I've driven the CL500 more than once.

It has a weak appearence, thats all. Who knows if it has an affect on the body roll or rigidity. PG and I are commenting on the aesthetics more than the engineering flaws.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. The CL was arguably the best looking car Mercedes made until the current SL and new CLS, IMO of course. That roofline is what what gave it character, which Mercedes tried (and failed) to duplicate with the 2003 CLK.

Nevermind the CLK or CL's weak appearance ...... What is there that catches the eye in the 6er design other than the front end and the front hood ? I mean the back is just wack !!:t-hands:its rear looks like a porsche cayman wich I also cosider as a wack design !!

BTW , I had the CL65 and the only thing that annoyed me in its design was the small front grille , and guess what .... That grilledoes not look modern enough now adays but everything else in the CL is just sensational .

Yep, I agree. I was never flattered with the rear design of the 6er. Thats it`s weakest design point. In fact I`ve herd a lot of complaints about the rear!
When I went to the Auto show last year one guy looked at rear and said to the salesman "Does that come off?":t-hihi:

Thats not a good argument! The back is just wack??? uummm O K...

M6 easily, BUT as many have mentioned if Mercedes does try to pull off a short limited production run of the CLK63 F1 that would be my first choice. Lunch!:t-drive:

I driven the M6. Yesterday I looked at a white M6 and a silver CLK63. Both very attractive but the M& gets my vote. White is hooooot, jaw dropping :usa7uh:

Yep, white is a hot color for M6. I can`t believe you saw the CLK63 already.
You must have went to the Auto Show.

Increasing equally???

38/18, not that equal buddy!!!

Like i said i would take the CLK63 but it needs a harder kit!

The M6 is perfect as is.

what the CLK63 lack is a manual or a seqventiell gearbox. Thats the reasons why AMG isnt my favorites when its about AMG/RS/M. Maybe if I was an american I would appreciate an automatic gearbox but Im european and I was raised with a manuel gearbox.

Interesting, I think the front is awesome but the back not to my taste. I've seen quite a couple of them on the road around here.
Sorry for the late entry but I had to boost the showing for the CLK....
