Look what I found in a barn...

Further on that.

BMW Archive in Garching-Hochbrück has some strange information. According to them, the car is supposed to be red and manufactured in the end of January 1975. According to BMW Sweden, who registered the car as a new car in Sweden in the end of February 1975, the car is light green.

From my investigation, the VIN has not been altered and everything matches.

More on that later. On monday I'll be collecting the car and I will provide pictures of the poor thing!

Taiga Green?

Interesting thread and just in time. I am myself talking to someone selling a 2002tii. What website are you using to check the VIN, to see everything matches?

There's a VIN badge on the steering column, one on the right hand side engine bay, it's on the engine (above the starter engine) and it's also stamped on the right hand front wheel housing itself (just behind the lock for the hood).

I contacted BMW Archiv (info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com) and got excellent help right away.

No pickup today.

Will be done tomorrow.
Just got word from the manager of our local BMW dealer (who happens to be the first owner of the car) that the engine was rebuilt and tuned in the late '80:s.

So there is two?
Wow! Fantastic .
Another Tii?
Inka Orange?

There are two. The Inka car is a regular 2002 and it's in good rusty (fenders) shape (matching numbers and original paint), but as I got it for free, I haven't payed much attention to it as of yet. Solid car!

I don't know if it is the quality of the pictures or just excessive dust?
But is the Tii two-tone?
Another question do they start?

The two-tone car is a Tii, the other one is not.

We have turned the engines and they turn fine enough. I want to bleed them before any serious startup.

I know, however, that the engine of the Tii car was rebuilt and possibly internally tuned just a couple of years before it was put in that barn.

Wow! The interior looks as if it just needs a very good and deep clean!
I think you can still get an original steering wheel from BMW-Classic?

The interior is totally unmolested and it wears the recorded miles very well. The drivers seat will need a good work.

I'll try to get one of these wheels, no doubt.

Du you know if there's still rear quarters to be had?

I take it you mean the glass and hofmeister trim?

These are such diamonds in the rough and although your will embark on quite a journey to restore them, it will be one of the most rewarding and memorable thing you have ever done.

I'm thinking 2-3 years of work for the pair of them. I'm giving the Inka car to my brother so that we can do this toghether.

On my part, I'm thinking original body and probably uprated gearbox (5-speed from the 320i), LSD, and suspension - with all the original parts kept on a shelf in restored condition.

Which E320i? The E30? I would also have gone down the restomod route but being a bit more biased to keeping the car as original as possible. Will the cars be stored in a garage with space that you won't miss over the next 2-3 years?
