I think it sounds retarded to pronounce the "e". Its way too pretentious for my taste.
"double you" is the correct way to say the letter "W" so that has no grounds either.

These are german names, not english/anglo-saxon ones.
Well Dr. Porsche did not think it was retarded to pronounce his name properly and not Porsch.
And there is no "Double You" pronountion in german. It stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke.

But in english BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works-And because I speak english I am going pronounce BMW; Bee-emm-double you. Why would I, an English speaking person, adopt a german dialect to pronounce these brands. Since they are targeting us as customers they should adopt are dialect and they do. When BMW officials speak with Americans about there company they pronounce it using "anglo saxon" way.

I'm quite used to many English speakers not being able to pronounce my first name correctly... few will even try my with last name.
