Pictures Lexus General Picture Thread

I actually like the new Lexus's:). The only thing I don't like in the new Lexus's are the ES's headlights and the LS's side profile.

Every time I see the ES head-on, I think it looks really awkward, and I don't know why.

And the LS really annoys me because the side profile looks exactly like an elongated BMW 5-series...

But other than that, I think Lexus has come a long way since it debuted in what, the early 90's?:t-hands:

Thanks Wimmer.

Love the original LS. :usa7uh:

Same here, I like the original LS. In fact, I like the version before this one even more. That car had STYLE IMO even if it was based off a Toyota. The current LS is nice but it lacks the impact and character of the original I feel. :t-cheers:

Here, this is the Lexus LS I like. It had different headlights which looked a little more aggressive than the one above. Found this one on the used car lot of the Lexus dealer 2 years ago.

I get what you're saying and I agree. I recall a book I read in a Chapters (book store) five or so years ago which pinned both the SC400 and LS400 as classics. Which of course I agree with, both of those vehicles were the foundation for the company.

Yup, that's the 95. I've told you before, but my dad had one :D

Now that's the LS I would get. It has everything I need to. I don't need all these fancy gadgets that all luxury manufacturers offer these days.

I always feel cars are getting more complex for the sole reason of owner bragging rights. :eusa_doh:

Agreed. Not to mention the 95 LS was an awesome car and take it from me, it's way, way better than the LS430. Dare I even say better screwed together than the LS460.

What happened to simple 5 speed gearboxes? (for example) :t-banghea

I think in this department, if a manufacturer can make a gearbox with more gears, but without adding weight, it does have its advantages.

From the looks of it though, CVT's seem to be the future. :usa7uh:

CVT... :eusa_doh: :tongue2:

BTW, that LS with 260bhp (American Spec) only had a four speed.

Yep and 260-hp was a lot back then I suppose. What model year would that LS be BTW?

The W126 S-Class was built until 1991 in Europe (1993 in South Africa) and the Euro 560SEL had over 300-hp while an American-spec 560SEL had about 225-250-hp depending on which KAT.

The first LS you posted went till late 94, that particular LS started in 95 and went to late 97.

After the 97:

Never really liked this one (the pic you posted). I think they toned it down too much and made it look softer. The '94 LS looked aggressive and "typical Japanese executive car", a style which I like and admire.

No offense, but the LS430 was just ugly as sin. The LS460 is really classy and a great car and it has my respect (despite my jokes about Lexus) but the styling is a little too bland when almost every car in this class has "something" emotional in their design. And that's where that '94 LS comes back into the picture. I feel it had character.
