http://www.autosportRobert Kubica has undergone surgery in order to improve the mobility of his arm following his accident last year.
The Pole, who continues recovering from the horrific crash he was involved in during a rally at the start of last year, had surgery at the Pederzoli hospital at the end of last month, when parts of his elbow were replaced with two prosthesis.
According to the doctor in charge of the operation, that will allow Kubica to fully handle the steering wheel of a car.
The doctor also said that the Polish driver had been carrying out tests in a simulator prior to the operation.
"This way the driver will be able to fully handle the steering wheel, while before he was unable to rotate the palm down, so he was forced to release the steering wheel in order to turn left," head surgeon Ruggero Testoni was quoted as saying by Italian media.
"The surgery was preceded by a series of tests in a car simulator. It will take at least one month in order to stabilize."

The Pole has been out of action since suffering life-threatening injuries when his Skoda car was impaled on a crash barrier during a rally in February last year.
Kubica underwent several operations to repair the damage, which included a partially severed right arm and multiple fractures to his right elbow, shoulder and leg.
Despite many predicting that his motor racing career was over, the 27-year-old returned to competition this weekend, driving a Subaru Impreza in the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally in Italy.
Speaking to SkySport24's Antonio Boselli ahead of the event, Kubica revealed that he's hoping this weekend's outing is just another step towards an F1 return.
He told Boselli: "Back in Formula 1? In 2014 but I still don't know if my journey will take me there."
As for his rally this weekend, he said: "I wanted to experience the rush of the race, so now I will do this then the rally in San Martino then we will see."
Hope he is okay. But the guy has some seriously big attachments!
http://www.autosport.Robert Kubica hopes his maiden victory in a World Rally Car in Italy last weekend will lead to even greater success with the Citroen C4.
Kubica finished the 11-stage Como event half a minute clear of Felice Re's similar car, despite having to complete the rally with only rear brakes after a minor accident.
The Pole is making a tentative motorsport return in rallying, nearly two years on from suffering horrific injuries in a crash in Italy. He still hopes to rejoin the Formula 1 field eventually.
This weekend Kubica's comeback will step up a gear when he contests the Rallye du Var in France, where his opposition will include experienced former World Rally Championship and Intercontinental Rally Challenge frontrunner Freddy Loix in a Peugeot 307 WRC.
Kubica said Como had allowed him to fully get to grips with the Citroen and that he is now keen to contest increasingly demanding events to test his prowess.
"It's been a good adventure, a fine test ahead of the Rallye du Var," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"This rally has been very useful: first of all because it's very demanding, and also because it's allowed me to understand this Citroen almost completely. It's a car with incredible potential.
"I keep my feet on the ground. I need to test myself on the most demanding events.
"I'm a circuit guy, used to fighting for hundredths of seconds. If I'm behind on the road I get angry. However, I have the strength to react and fight until the end. Here Re, [Corrado] Fontana and [Paolo] Porro pushed me hard but in the end I did it.
"I won well, but to be honest I have to say that this Citroen C4 WRC is an exceptional car that will be able to give me more satisfaction, perhaps even bigger than today's."
