Robert Kubica is confident that the BMW Sauber F1 Team will make a positive impression this season and is looking beyond the first race of the season in Melbourne.
"In Poland we say that 'it's not important how you start, it's important how you finish, so I really am convinced we are doing a good job," he said
In less than four weeks, the Albert Park Circuit will stage the first showdown of the season.
However, before the team's attention can be completely and utterly dedicated to the first Grand Prix weekend of the year, more tests are scheduled for the coming weeks.
Kubica is happy with the progress made by his team since the roll-out of their new car - the F1.08.
"We introduced some new mechanical parts and also worked on the aerodynamics, which clearly improved the car," he commented.
"Everybody in the team is totally determined to make the F1.08 as quick as possible," Kubica said.
"We have a well-planned schedule of steps we are going to carry out before the first race."
There has been some speculation that BMW Sauber might not retain its status as the third biggest force in Formula One, at least not at the beginning of the championship but the Pole is trying not to concentrate on the competition.
"At this stage of the preseason tests, we are not looking at the other teams too much," he confirmed.
"It's quite normal that everybody only shows their full potential at the start of the season in Australia."
