The UK is obsessed with property. In some circles especially, there is an obsession with laddering up to a bigger home, adding extensions and building out lofts. Congrats to those who managed to buy a property before the 2006-2018 boom and ease of getting interest only loans for buy-to-let.

Those ambitions with now be marred with high running costs over winter.

Coincidentally I have exclusive had cold showers the past two weeks. It is reflecting handsomely on my energy bill. Just £25 for two weeks. I reckon cold showers and hand washing will make me comfortable with cool temperatures and save me £1,150 between Oct-May.

The new luxury will be to have a small home with low running costs, affording you greater disposible income.

I am also a vegetarian/pescetarian on a 1,500calorie/day diet. Saves money on expensive beef and daily use of the oven/hob.

I sometimes joke that I spend more money on fuel for my M140i than I do on food and energy for thr house.

It was the last big engine bimmer that you could buy under £40k list. My annual VED is therefore low at £170. Balloon payment is £13k because I bought it at a 33% discount and took delivery after 8 weeks. The glory of car buying pre-covid.

Current bimmers are too expensive and al carte options are coming to an end as some options are exclusive to £1-2k bundles with stuff that I don't need.

House prices are at the start of being obliterated. The difference to 1994, post-ERM, and 2010, post the GFC, is this IS the Plan - not just another leg in higher and higher, pyramid, ponzi prices.

PS tip: the latest energy price cap gets announced on Friday. Watch Autorader, eBay etc this weekend/next week. I'm just looking at apartments to rent in my area in Germany and there's a sudden influx of empty apartments on offer. Especially those that are gas heated. A local Subway franchise just closed. I had a wee chat with the owner and he's moving out from Germany to the Carribean. Also, my neighbours moved out to South America. What strikes me is there was a housing shortage in my area not a while ago and now suddenly there are so many apartments to rent.

And the rent prices went down too.

- the Brit Media, BBC foremost of course, want the plebs to believe rents are through the roof, and like a physical law of nature, only able to keep going one way, further up. They're all neck deep themselves(their sprogs too probably) in Buy-to-Lets, their 'property portfolios', mini and not so mini Rachmans.

They're bricking it - £1m+ 'properties' - hovels in stabby, outer London, Greenford etc - that they thought would give them up to £2,000/month income, PLUS capital appreciation - the hovel going up in 'value' at least 10% per year, in perpetuity.

Their own houses, worth supposedly currently up to £10m, funded for reading out loud as a job, in north and west London, have been developed and invested in to within an inch of their lives - massive extensions, new kitchens, new upper level, possibly even pool/gym dug in basement etc. This is all about to go tits up, with these lovely, but not exactly rare, mainly Victorian and Edwardian properties, in their tens of thousands in these areas, and so likely to fall in line with the general market - probably half their value in ~18 months time, or the £ inflated away so badly they would buy a 2 bed apartment in somewhere like Dubai or Singapore.

I think you underestimate how Europe works. There is no chance of the EU/NATO conceding to Russia on sanctions, none at all.

As regards inflation, fuel prices went up, they've come down a bit now, so that affects the year on year inflation, but only until March next year.

There is satisfaction in knowing that Russian inflation is far worse, and theirs will not end in March next year. And their interest rates are plane crazy too.

The Soviets installed the current regime in the North, which was modelled on Stalin's Russia. China was involved in the Korean War as well as Russia, they backed the North's invasion of the South. The CCP took over the Chinese mainland via a coup, which was also backed by the USSR. Et voila, two of the sh1ttiest regimes ever were created by a 3rd one of the same.
